IGO 8 on FlashDisk but SKINS from SD card???

Postby Fatboyfun » Thu Jun 30, 2011 7:28 am

Because the problem is on "My Flash Disk" , A hard reset won't help as that only resets WindowsCE, Same with reflashing, Try to find a service manual online and see if there's a procedure to format My Flash Disk as the device will offer usb mode if the disk is empty.

Bוut i think formatting the flash disk needs USB connection...
Can it be formatted without usb connection?
What do you mean by " the device will offer usb mode if the disk is empty. "

There may be a procedure to format my flash disk without using a pc, IF a service manual exists it should tell you if it's possible, this is likely to involve opening the case up. I referred to shorting some test pins on the pcb earlier, that can sometimes force usb mode.

You are not the first person to fall into this trap and you certainly won't be the last.

I found this...

1. I emptied battery completely (If device is working you may turn on route simulation)
2. Connect Mio with USB cable with PC, with switch on RESET position
3. Now comes a series of fast switching ON/OFF, do it couple of times but make sure the screen is on during your switch is off, it takes about a second then turn the switch ON, then OFF, then ON ....
4. Why? Well I am not sure in this but it behaves similar as you turn your PC on and then hit the brake button.
5. How long? Well, in my case, until you reach the point when your PC recognize the device. The moment takes a second and disappears, but if you are lucky and catch the moment, your Mio screen will be frozen but you'll see the device mounted!!! Then you may fix paths.xml or whatever you did before...

It may or may not work.

This procedure below is "Kill or Cure" You do it at your own risk!

This involves opening the unit and grounding a pin on the flash chip to get to the service/upgrade menu where you may be able to get USB access...

I've never tried either of these procedures myself.

This model MOOV 380 has NO Reset switch - only on/off switch. I have tried to turn on off many times but no good.
Maybe i will try the hardware solution now...

Does it have a three position slide switch on the top?

ON OFF RESET

It would appear that timing is the key.

Success at last!
Being obsessed by this problem for few days, i tried all solutions proposed by good men in this forum (and other) and It is OK now!
The MioPocket SD card option worked at last!
I put auto.exe and auto.mscr and Mortscript in the root of the SD card and in few folders (Default, Cobia_420_64, Monk_G405 folders) and In the mscr script i executed the CE windows explorer.
I inserted the SD card after turning the Mio on. and VOILA!
Thank you so much for helping
