Igo Primo Android No Sound At all.

Postby Yurbuh Tuggly » Wed Aug 22, 2012 6:50 am

Update Primo Android TTS:
Out of curiosity and in the interest of testing, I installed the "IVONA" TTS engine from Google Play:
[Please Register or Login to download file]
It, and all available voices are currently FREE (this may not last forever).
Comparison between it and the default Pico:
The two voices I tried (English US and English UK) sound much better, more natural. There is, however, sometimes a short delay before the voices speak.
Both sound pretty good within Primo Android. To switch back and forth between the two I tried, you must change the Voice/Language settings within the Android settings to EnglishUK/EnglishUS and then select the associated voice to be the default for each dialect/accent. Primo Android will switch accordingly (I have both an English US and English UK TTS voice installed in Primo Android, and it really does not matter which one is selected...the settings are taken from the Android settings).
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

That's great...and thanks for the share!
However, one must be careful with "version" numbers tossed around. Currently (despite what certain downloads on other certain sites may claim), there is no such thing as "Primo 2.1"...as in a completely new version as the difference, for example, was between Primo 1.1 and Primo 1.2.
Everything currently available for WinCE devices is "Primo 2.0 - 9.6.5.xxxxx". The numbers after the "5" are basically irrelevant. All the same except for a few loading graphics, icons, etc. Numbers and versions can easily be modified by anybody to show anything. It's the official NNG versions that really count. When there is a truly new version of Primo, believe me, I will know about it.:D

EDIT:
Upon further examination (after the rather lengthy download), this is "my" distribution from here:**
Primo-2.0-Build-9.6.5.211211-Torrent
LOL!!
Good choice!

**(except for the added Bluetooth folder...be careful with that. BT can be very device-specific and may not work on any other device other than the one it was designed for).
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

HI Bro... Now I need your help again

I got the file somewhere on net called "Voice_TTS_Pro-eng-au-Android.zip" it is Australian TTS Lady Voice.. It is working perfectly on my Android using iGo Primo and all Road Name announced correctly.. But it is not the Sweet English.. I am looking for the similar file in US English TTS and UK English TTS precisely. ( Both Girl Voices)

All the Links are dead in the other TTS Threads I tried until mid night..

Can you guide in this matter? you can see the attached file.. it is just 35 KB but now I can open TTS Pro also on my Android in IGO Primo.

BEst regards

TTS on the Android version of primo uses the phones tts engine, go to your device settings, could be "Language and input -> text to speech output" depending on which Android build you have, and select your required voice.

All the tts voice zip does on Android is pass whatever needs to be said to the phones tts engine

Then you did not try here:
-Primo-Android-9.6.7
All the TTS 'voices' you need are there and properly modified for Android.
But pay attention to what FBF says. The gender and 'voice' of the TTS file is irrelevant..it uses whatever you have in Android...all this is explained in the link above in the section TTS (Text to Speech) installation procedures:
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Yeah, we keep it pretty well hidden. No reference to it at all...except at the bottom of every post I make.
