igo primo crashing at irregular intervals

Postby stewartie4 » Tue Aug 12, 2014 9:27 pm

Hi Guys the issue is that my igo primo 2.4 Build 9.6.13.267029 runs fine for 2-3 minutes then suddenly crashes with no error log or crash.txt generated. I can then start it up again and it continues the route, but crashes again 2-3 mins later again. My issue is exactly what a user listed on this forum
: LINK REMOVED : except that I don't have traffic installed. This has happened on multiple builds of primo (I'm on my 4th separate download now) I'm using a phillips ced 780 which should have more than enough ram! does anyone have any suggestions?

thanks

There was a case recently where the user had bad maps causing crashes, could this be the reason here..?

Have you tried Primo 2.0, seems to be more stable for some.

Had a drive there on 2.0 with the 2013 q4 here maps. turns out I've been re-downloading the same type of maps instead of trying the tomtom ones so that could very well be the issue as the application does not crash with the basemap!
in the meantime is there anything else that could be causing the crashes?
Thanks guys

If the program is on SD, it helps to reformat the SD and re-install.

Then there is the global_cfg file. In our program section you can always find the latest one.
My original 2.4 was unstable at first, did not crash every 2-3 minutes but totally irregularly. That stopped once the global_cfg was replaced, since it's stable unless I thick the "see detour details", then it crashes.

And of course almost everything in the .exe and data.zip, any line/routine that is called/executed/ after a few minutes and crashes the program. Often the main cause is a bad sector or a bad/corrupted file, 1 bit is enough. However I suppose in most cases a crash.txt would be made.

Thanks for the replies everyone, tried it with tomtom maps today, 2 seperate builds and they both crash. That's 4 seperate versions of primo, and two different sets of maps I've tried now. Looks like it's just not going to work'! the strange thing is it doesnt crash untilafter I start moving, it could be on all day and be fin until i begin navigating, maybe an incorrect baud rate is causing this? (i had to specify it manually as primo couldnt find it)

if all else fails I'll have to settle for igo 8 which doesnt have TTS voices :(

1. you could try baud 4800 though. By the way, 9800 like in your sys, isn't a value, 9600 is
2. iGO can handle Loquendo TTS. Since Chas521 knows more (all?) on the issue of TTS, ask him about it.
3. Could it be that Primo doesn't crash when no TTS but regular voices are enabled?

So I see from nabi's response, I wasn't aware of that and will definitely be trying them out

1. Yes you're right, I got mixed up sorry
The crashes still happen with the normal voices I recently removed everything that wasn't of importance and it still happens :(

I've downloaded igo 8 and it is working fine, no crashing with the HERE maps at all, I think I'm going to get a decent skin and stick with igo8 as it is actually a lot smother too!

Thank you everyone for your help! I am surprised at the great response I got being a first time poster! :)

Kikker3.2 is a nice skin for the igo8. It has all the information you need on screen but less cluttered looking.
