I have a related question:

I would like to keep the original blue bubbles for POI categories and replace only the brand icons for some specific POIs, e.g. Shell Petrol Station.

In branding.zip/ui_igo9/icons/poi/poi.icons I have kept this:

Still it does not work, the icon is still the blue bubble. What am I doing wrong?

So you already have a customized branding.zip file containing customized POI icons, and you have attempted to edit it?
That could be an issue. To have both a custom branding.zip AND a custom ui_igo9 folder (also with custom POIs) will lead to conflicts and trouble.
Plus, both the branding.zip and data.zip files in the Primo folder are very easily corrupted if not edited in a particularly careful way.

IF you use only the customized UI_igo9 folder (Primo does not even require a branding.zip file, so you could either move it or rename it to 'branding.oldzip' or something), you should be able to go into Settings>Map Settings>Place Markers> choose a category, then drill down to individual POIs, tap them, then their current icon and change the POI image/icon to anything that shows up in the extensive list.

If you find that it is not possible to do this (change the icon for individual POIs), you may need the diMka Skin for Primo2.

After activating the skin, and using the custom UI_IGO9 folder, you definitely will be able to change the appearance of any individual icon that you want.

I know this sounds like a lot of steps to accomplish something that, on the surface seems so simple, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

I cannot do that. I click on an individual POI and I only hear a ding sound. It does not go further.

I know the branding.zip and data.zip are not corrupted because I do not unzip them, I just drag the files into them. I made more changes in data.zip apart from POIs and they have worked.

Which one is the customized ui_igo9 folder? Where is it located?

You can find it in data.zip, where it is one of the folders.

If you unzip and then zip them again, the compression will not correspond to what IGO expects. Therefore, to keep the compression settings required by Igo, files have to be changed/dragged into the archive.

I don't know for sure if the files are in the correct subfolder within data.zip. I just assume that following other examples of data.zip they are in the right subfolders.

I do it like this: I use TotalCommander. This program makes it possible to open a zip file (not unzip), look in it and copy/move/rename files in/out without unzipping the zipped file. This way you see what you are doing. When you don't see what you are doing, thus placing a file in another place as intended ... well in short. it can work but not as intended or not work at all.

I deleted branding.zip.
I changed the data.zip/ui_igo9/icons/poi/poi.icons by inserting this:

I copied poi_petrol.spr and poi_petrol.bmt to data.zip/ui_igo9/480_272

Nothing changed. The same blue bubble for Shell petrol station.

Using a skin is not a solution, but a compromise because a skin changes a lot in the navigation appearance. I would prefer a minimal skin, with no changes in the navigation map interface, but with improvements in the menu part. But I don't think that exists.

It just does not work in Primo. I was able to customize individual POI's in IGO R3 without any problem.

In poi_visibilities.txt following line has to be inserted for Shell Petrol Station (numbers may be freely changed):

This is the way how the link is done between icon and description in poi.icons (for Primo).

In general, available branding.zip files for Primo are provided as a package with the poi_visibilities.txt file included. In case you are not satisfied with the branding.zip you have just downloaded, you may create your own branding, just don't forget about poi_visibilities.txt.

Now, why I want new and don't stick to old? Because once the old HW with IGO R3 is broken, you need to buy a new HW which happens to have some SW installed. This SW already installed happens to be a customized Igo Primo 2.0 for Becker. Now this version of Primo has a nice interface but has a lot of limitations. What do you do? You try to instal Igo Primo 2.0 without limitations. And so on...

You can download a pack (if your resolution is covered) and, by looking at the file structure, learn a LOT about how 'custom icons' can be shown.
I don't know if your particular Campsite POI's are included or not, but they might be.

I have downloaded and placed this file where you said to, and when I go to place markers in map settings all I get is a blank page. Any ideas why please?

Its OK, my problem has now been sorted. I just placed the POI folder that was in the content folder of my Primo 1.2 into the content folder of Primo 2.
