Thank you Chas521. I downloaded iGo 8 from the link you shared. What should I do next?

Good. My version [iGO8] is MUCH better than anything else you might download because I modified some things in it that you won't find elsewhere. Now, here's what I want you to do next:

1. Make a backup copy of your internal files/folders to your computer before you do any editing.
2. On a new SD card, create a folder called igo8 and copy all the files/folders in the download to that folder. I'm assuming that you used the new single link to download and not the two-parts link[s].
3. Edit the path on your device to SDCard\igo8\igo8.exe or leave it like it is and rename the folder from igo8 to nng and the igo8.exe to nngnavi.exe.
4. Put the new SD card in your device and start your device.
5. The iGO8 should start. It has a basemap that is not for navigation but it should work with the program.
6. Post your results.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

Thanks bazzle. I do see that they are already configured in the file you mentioned. But still it says "SB" instead of "South Bound"

transform.direction_abbrev = TRANSFORM.new({
{2,L"\\bS\\.?W\\.?\\b",L"South West"},
{2,L"\\bS\\.?E\\.?\\b",L"South East"},
{2,L"\\bN\\.?W\\.?\\b",L"North West"},
{2,L"\\bN\\.?E\\.?\\b",L"North East"},

{1,L"S",L"South"},
{1,L"SO",L"South"},
{1,L"SO.",L"South"},

{1,L"N",L"North"},
{1,L"NO",L"North"},
{1,L"NO.",L"North"},

{1,L"E",L"East"},
{1,L"E.",L"East"},

{1,L"W",L"West"},
{1,L"W.",L"West"},

{1,L"EB",L"East Bound"},
{1,L"WB",L"West Bound"},
{1,L"SB",L"South Bound"},
{1,L"NB",L"North Bound"},
}
)

Also, where do you live? When you get the program working [should be a snap] then we'll tackle the TTS.

All it is saying is that the device can't find the correct path to the igo.exe so the program can start. This is something you'll have to experiment with because your device is not in front of me. Try both choices I gave you above in #3 post #20.

Thanks chas521. I didn't realize that there is a path set in sys.txt. I removed that and it worked. We can go ahead with next steps :dance:

Did the program start OK showing the "blank" basemap? Where do you live so we can add content? I'm usually not here tomorrow [Sunday] because I'm on the golf course with friends asking myself why I play this game - after I hit a bad shot. I bring that up because I want to do this today.

After we do some content, we can do the TTS issue. Download "Textpad" to do this. BTW, it's free. [Please Register or Login to download file]

Good for you that you got the program going!

EDIT: I just noticed that EB, NB and etc. are already contained in the TTS pronunciation folder of my program. So you might not need to download Textpad or even do anything else except to add content. Post your results.

Yes, the program started OK with a blank map. But it is showing only half in my screen. My device uses 800X480. I am sure its a setting somewhere. I live in AZ, USA.

Must of missed adding the following info in your sys.txt file then..

There seems to be some confusion about the sys.txt entries to make when the resolution is 800_480 so I'm adding this for your information.

This is what is supposed to go into the sys.txt after removing any entry referring to 480_272:

[interface]
resolution_dir="800_480"
vga=0

[rawdisplay]
highres=0
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
class="landscape"

Don't forget to delete the save folder.

This information was pulled from http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-16-2011

Read the edits, and it says that... Once you do that, you'll get a full screen, instead of it just doing part of your screen.

sorry chas521 for the delay. I made all suggested changes and applied map, poi. Everything looks good now. I will confirm (after I use this while driving) whether TTS is working or not. Thanks a lot for your help.
