IGo Primo - TTS abbreviation

Postby bluem9 » Tue Sep 10, 2013 6:17 pm

Where/how do I configure abbreviations in iGo primo? My GPS TTS says as "I-17SB" or "I-10EB" instead of "I-17 South Bound" or "I-10 East Bound".

Thank you for your help.

I know how to make a pronunciation change in my iGO8. Primo - not so much. But I'll try nevertheless.

Open up your Primo root. Look for tts_nua_v5. Open ENU folder. Open phoneme folder. Open phoneme_enu.txt. 1st line write EB Eastbound 2nd line SB Southbound

Try different variations. Don't forget to save the file.

Thank you chas521. I do see the same structure in Primo and the file you mentioned. I will try your suggestion and reply to this thread. Thanks again.

Hello Chas521, after making suggested changes; my TTS is still saying as "SB" and not as "south bound". Any other suggestion, please?

You would do a Google search for your device. Do you have any user manuals that came for your device? Are there any web sites listed in the manual[s]? You want the specifications. What nav program and version came with the device? Is it on a SD card or on the device itself? If you have WinCE 5.0 [not 6.0] then we might be able to proceed.

Ok, but what is the name of that nav program? BTW, do you have another SD card?

Fine. That's what I was asking. When you turn on your device, is there a menu and is there an icon for settings [options]?

EDIT: What I'm trying to find out is if there is a path on your device that leads to the Primo on your SD card. I'm going to have you install iGO8 on another SD card where I can modify the voices and you might have to alter the pathway to the iGO8 .exe.
