iGO on vxmmi

Postby graeme92 » Sun Feb 24, 2013 3:54 pm

Hey guys, I'm very new to the forum but I was wondering if you could help me with something.

I recently got the VXMMI headunit for my car [Please Register or Login to download file] and I'm trying to load software on to it for GPS.

I don't mind which one I use, but I decided to try iGO primo and found a link online for the download. I loaded it onto the memory card, however it doesn't seem to be working on my unit - not even the base program loads. After I click navigation it just goes back to the radio.

I'm sorry for the incredibly newbie question, but could someone help me with getting this, or any GPS software, to work on my device? I haven't a clue how to do it after several searches :(

thanks

Graeme.

Welcome here.

When the base program is not loading, possibly/probably the button to start the navi program needs to be "informed" where the program is located. Or it may point to a place where it expects the program, but that point is not on SD or not pointing to the exact path where Primo is. (which is exactly the same explanation as I gave first ;) )

So what you need to do is figure out how to point that button where to find Primo on SDcard. Mostly it is done in the device settings. It will be in the manual.
Other possibility (but that will be in the manual as well), is that the navigation program must be located on SD in a folder with a certain name and the program needs to called a certain name, like \MobileNavigator\MobileNavigator.exe (just an example - read the manual !!) In that case, all you need to do is rename the Primo folder to MobileNavigator and the Primo.exe to MobileNavigator.exe.

Thanks for your fast reply - I thought that it may be that problem.

I've had a look everywhere on the net to try and find where I should locate the folder - apparently I need a txt file on the root of the SD card telling it where the folder is. I've tried that but still no luck :( Theres absolutely no information in the user manual, useless !

Do not expect me to know each device ;) but in general, setting up the path would be through "Setup" >> "Navigate Setup" >> "Software Path..." or similar, in your devices general menus.
