@DreadManCandy:
You said you put igo.exe on the igo folder, however, you have [folders] section on your sys.txt where it's indicated that the application folder is in "%StorageCard%/iGO8" (igo is not same as igo8).
[folders]
app="%StorageCard%/iGO8"
By default, igo assumes the app folder is in the same directory where you put the igo.exe and same for the content folder (UNLESS there is an override on the sys.txt [folders] section). So if you are running everything from the where you have igo.exe, just remove the whole [folders] section of your sys.txt and guaranteed, you would no longer get "Program Application database cannot be found" error.

Hi there,
Thank you all for your advice and instructions on how to get my GPS System working.
I have tried everything and attempted every procedure but somehow, `i cannot seem to get it to work.
The latest error which has been consistent in all my last three installations had been, "Program Application Database Cannot be found.
I have omitted the [folders] line in the system file as suggested by some, deleted the sys.txt file as suggested by others, tried various destination paths and so forth, but, I just can't seem to get it to work.
So I conclude, I am either stupid, or maybe, something's aren't meant to be.
Maybe, someone might be sympathetic to post me something out of the box to try, but until then, I will keep looking for solutions or maybe, just give up.
Thanks all, you've been wonderful.
Special thanks to Nabi, Fatboyfun, chas521, Yurbuh Tuggly and kamoteka

Did you try using the actual path to iGO.exe in the sys.txt?

One consistent answer you got different times is about the [folder] section. Kamoteka, Yurbuh Tuggly, me, ... we all basically said exactly the same thing.
And still you get the application error??? There must be a simple reason and unfortunately we don't see your set up physically.
Did you not mix up builds? Maybe you set up a PDA build, next a PNA build? How do you start up iGO? Maybe you made one bad install and try to start iGO from that location, not from the correct new location, which I hope is the SDcard.
Can you explore your device somehow and see if there is an iGO or iGO8 folder somewhere on the device? If so, delete it.
Then pick the househould tips file, unrar it, copy it to a preferable new sd card (when you have to use a formatted sd card, use panasonic sd formatter to format it (google)). Then make the changes needed for the resolution : in the [interface] section should be a line resolution_dir="800_480".
The [folder] section is the key. REM out by placing a ; in front of the lines.
That should do it, I hope.
A final remark. I have seen a few times that a new sd card solved the problem, in other words, that the original sd was to blame. Possibly by reformatting over and over again. All our advices were useless then. So when you have a new sd available, please try that one.

Hi There,
Well guys, you will be pleased to know that, even when I said I as giving up, I really didnt and gave it one more attemp by following the instructions set out here by chas521,
and viola...
IGO started, went through the motions with me and finally got to the settings bit.
Everythings seems ok, however, I only have Hugary set in the country location. I therefore deleted everything in the save folder, and added some (UK) maps and other bits as I'm based here.
I went back and tried it in the system and I'm still getting only Hungary. The system is not showing any maps.
If my memory serves me right, I think I remember reading a thread where someone had a similar problem. Perhaps someone will be kind to help me out here or point me to the thread to see if it was resolved and how.
Am almost there guys, Thank you sooooooooo much..

Where did you put the maps?
Maps are the files with .fbl extensions, and they go in *\Content\Map. Everything else (.fda .ftr .3dc etc) is optional.

Good to hear that it's somewhat running. Now it's probably only the content. As I recall, my program is empty for the most-part except for the basemap. Tell me EXACTLY what you're trying to do.

And the most stupid question of them all: do you have a GPS fix?
Before you got one, iGO will start up and show its standard location.

Ah, a supporter!

Thank you Fatboyfun for your prompt response.
I have managed to sort out the mapping issues.
I did this by deleting everything in there an replacing it with the UK&ROIContentPack.rar.
Now I am facing another issue. The problem here is, my device and iGO8 is having difficulties picking up a satellite signal. I am hoping this is not a complex issue.
I have had Route66 working on the system before so I know it is capable of linking with a satellite.
I would be extremely grateful for any help, support and instructions to fix this.
Thanks in advance to all.
Nabi and chas521 I believe anticipated my next question....! Geniuses...

How long did you give your device to get a satellite lock? You must have a clear view of the sky with NO obstructions and NOT be moving at the time. Also make sure that your port and baud numbers are correct. Could take as long as 20 minutes the first time out.
Tue Nov 22, 2011 10:19 pm
Two things
1. be sure you do not start route66 or any other GPS program before starting iGO. The Gps driver could be locked to that first program than.
2. a first satellite fix can take some time. Easily 10 minutes, often 20 and sometimes even more. Go out in the open air (no trees, no high buildings, preferebly no clouds - atmospheric conditions can interfere too, by the way) Do not drive around! Wait.

Double up again :D you can't say nobody is willing to help

If you still can't get a satellite lock, do this:
Go to settings, second page, GPS, take the check out of GPS enabled, select auto-detect and let it find the port and baud. Do it in the car outside. Could take some time so be patient.
