My iGO8 is acting up!!

Postby eskro » Tue Sep 13, 2011 4:51 pm

Hi guys!

I wonder if this ever happen to you,,,,

i got this route (.KML) programmed in my iGO8 GPS,
its a route that takes me from HOME to my dad's Work
of course, using, my desired highways and streets,,,

it has always worked great! i never ever had issues what so ever
when selecting that Itinerary Route,,,

Except for today!!
For god knows why,
it started to NOT route me correctly!!

Asking me to turn here and there
and take that highway and WTF?
this is insane!!!

its supposed to route me like usual,
using the pre-programmed route in the .KML file

but today, it was acting up and i honestly dont know why!?
it should have route me to the same exact route as before!!

i used that route like 20+ times!!
always worked perfectly!

except today!?
and i havent changed a thing!!

its like impossible!!

what can be the cause here guys?

im puzzled,,,

my GPS is good for garbage??

thanks!!

- Corrupt file ?
- added road blocks ?
- eskro is on the steering wheel ?
- ....

Do a re-install when the problem stays.

When you drove. And when you drive again?
The simulated route is or should be the same route as the driven one. Possibly there was some atmospheric interference that blocked the GPS reception or the GPS module in your device is broken. You could better answer the question: was the position on the road correct??

ok thx, is it safe to assume these:

1) Possible atmospheric interference = blocked GPS reception = routes me incorrectly like it did??

2) GPS module broken = defective GPS reception = routes me incorrectly like it did??

was the position on the road correct --> some times yes, sometimes no,,,
like at some point, it asked me to turn and i didnt,
but on the GPS screen, the cursor was turning,,,
instead of going straight,,,

after a bit, it recalculated a new route obviously,
but that route was totally wrong again, same issue as described,,,
turn here turn there, total non-sens as it has to follow the KML programmed route..

again,
when i select the route, and try to do a simulation of it, the routing is correct!!

last time i tried my GPS it was sunday,
i made an hour long trip to a farm,
without a single issue,,,,

???

thanks

So the last time your device worked as it should while diving?
But that day it did completely not, and your position wasn't correct?
Then it is safe to assume a gps malfunction for some reason (atmopheric, something going on with satellite, cable working on that road, ... all that can cause -magnetic??- gps malfunction)
Don't panic yet and do some more road testing, including the route where all gone "berserk'ed". When all is back to normal, the better.

yeah lwell, like i said,
ast time i tried my GPS it was sunday,
i made an hour long trip to a farm (without using KML itinerary)
and all was perfect!

then today, GPS went berserk'ed,,,
i guess i tend to accept the atmopheric/satellite issues rather then the GPS itself,,,

Yepp, i'll do some more testing and,
i'll get back to you with more infos...

thanks!

** UPDATE **

today i used my GPS again to drove to my dads work,
again, using the same .KML route programmed in my iGO8 and this time,
all went perfectly without a single issue!

I guess the cause might be ATMOSPHERIC INTERFERENCE,,,

Same thing happened last Saturday to my Dad coming to my place last Saturday, kept telling him he has arrived at the destination, in the wrong suburb up the wrong street. (Primo 1.1 Oz)
Worked perfectly hour later/

Looks like a glitch may of happened over the weekend in some places.

i really think that there was something causing ATMOSPHERIC INTERFERENCE...
Hurricanes!?

Hurricanes....unlikely.
Solar flares, sunspots, satellites and other space junk falling out of the sky....possible.
