igo8 only starts from win Ce but not from the menu,but tomto

Mon May 09, 2011 2:10 pm

Hi, on my MyGuide 4328, I do not succeed to start igo8 from the shell menu.
Neither on the flash disc or storage card, but from win CE igo8 works from any support.
Tomtom works from any support and from anywhere...
The igo8 error message when starting from main menu is: "program application database cannot be found."
But for me igo8 is complete and works well when started from win CE...
What could be the problem?
Many thanks in advance as I become mad!
Expecting some ideas to test.

I just happen to be here right now so I'll answer. Application database not found is probably the easiest error to fix. All it means is that your device can't find the path to iGO 8.3. Go into the flash internal drive of your device, find the .exe that starts your nav and edit it to point to iGO instead.

That is an iGO error message so it is starting but i reckon the unlock shell is changing something causing the error.

Thanks to both, first answer is that SD card path is ok as this path works to run "tomtom"
Syntax is same but does not start igo.
So i will try to had a "folder" ligne in my sys txt.
I tried it already but I posted there as I do not succeed yet.
but I agree with Fatboyfun and chas521 it must be a path problem and nothing else.
In mean time I got a private massage to ask me how to fit an other shell menu and get tomtom working on this unit.
So I see that I am anyway on a good step on that device...

iGO is starting as you are getting an iGO error message, Try the folder line in sys.txt again but double check the path.

Always the same
I counter checked the igo path hundred times, copied the tomtom one's just changing the name.
I stop for some time as I become mad.

Here are my menu command lines:
[BMP-BOUTON]
x=370
y=10
menu=0
hauteur=100
largeur=100
execute=\..\Storage Card\mobilenavigator\mobilenavigator.exe
normal=BMenu\Boutons\tomtom.bmp
enfonce=BMenu\Boutons\tomtomi-sel.bmp
[/BMP-BOUTON]

[BMP-BOUTON]
x=10
y=165
menu=0
hauteur=100
largeur=100
execute=\..\Storage Card\igo8\igo8.exe
normal=BMenu\Boutons\igo8.bmp
enfonce=BMenu\Boutons\igo8-sel.bmp
[/BMP-BOUTON]

One is working and not the other...

I Restarted TomTom which always works perfectly...So its path is always valid.

I feel your frustration.

"Application database cannot be found" is an iGO error message, So your shell IS working properly, It's iGO which is not starting, Post your sys.txt for me.

Does your device need to reboot itself to get into the WinCE desktop?

Mon May 09, 2011 4:36 pm

It does not reboot to open win CE it comes from a button of the menu.
here is the sys.txt

Not so sure about that.
I can understand backing out of the menu twice for a path, but not for iGO itself.

Mon May 09, 2011 4:54 pm

I was on that currently, so I had just removed a(.) like that:
app=\.\Storage Card\igo8\igo8.exe
but no improvement, so now I wil continue same way by following your idea and removing \..\

Mon May 09, 2011 5:01 pm

I tested this syntax but no improvement,
[folders]
app=\Storage Card\igo8\igo8.exe"
anyway rather sure that it comes from this line

WITH THIS PATH WIN CE GOT SAME ERROR MESSAGE so it is worth.
any ideas?
thanks a lot for feeling my frustration...

Have you tried with no [folders] category at all?
iGO is often able to find itself after it starts.
--Just fishing for possibilities here.

Mon May 09, 2011 5:22 pm

Right, in fact Win CE starts igo8 only IF there is no path at all in the sys txt.(as you said)
BUT the pity is then igo8 does not start from the menu without finding itself the way.
So I started to add a path in sys txt to run from the menu.(like tomtom working from same buttons menu)
But I am unable to find then the right command line.
Strong problem isn't it?

Remove the quote (") from the end of the line
