Thanks. I deleted the map, dem and poi folders from iGo, content and added these lines to the iGo sys:
[folders]
map="\My Flash Disk\Primo2\CONTENT\map"
dem="\My Flash Disk\Primo2\CONTENT\DEM"
poi="\My Flash Disk\Primo2\CONTENT\poi"
When I run the iGo programme is stops half way through loading up with the message:
'Map initialisation error Your map files are outdated. Please visit your local dealer'
The maps are fine as the worked when in iGo and are in the primo folder ok. Any ideas? Do I need a Map, Poi and DEM folder in iGo Content still but with no actual files inside them so it looks for maps in iGo and then serches for them in Primo2?

Do I need to add something like: "has_secondary_root=0"?

According to this...
[folders]
app="Storage Card\Primo"
content="Storage Card\Primo\content"
map="Storage Card\Primo\content\map"
kmlpoi="userdata\poi"
kmlroute="userdata\route"
has_secondary_root=0
...
dem and
poi aren't there, Did you try just using
map?

You should be using
has_secondary_root=1 if there is two or more versions on the same device.

Thanks. I have tried various combinations including:
[folders]
MAP="My Flash Disk\Primo2\CONTENT\map"
has_secondary_root="1" (and also 1 without the "")
but it still gets stuck on the 'Map initialisation error Your map files are outdated. Please visit your local dealer'
Any other ideas?

You might want to try this in your sys.txt. See if "0" works in secondary or else try "1". Edit as necessary.
[folders]
has_secondary_root=0
sdcardpath="\Storage Card\IGO8"
maps="..\..\iGO8\content\map"
buildings="..\..\iGO8\content\building"
dem="..\..\iGO8\content\dem"
poi="..\..\iGO8\content\poi"
voice="..\..\iGO8\content\voice"
lang="..\..\iGO8\content\lang"

Nope, it's just not working. I still get the same error message. Even though I have a 128Mb unit I think I'll uninstall Primo and keep iGo to free up space.
Thanks again anyway though

Why not keep igo on the internal flash drive and run Primo from an sd card?

ahh, because my unit is mio 485. It has 2Gb memory but no sd card slot. I had been doubling up maps, pois etc as using both programmes

My unit is pretty stable using visual unlock but i just noticed it takes up nearly 150Mb of space. Are there other stable unlocks that use less? I'm not one to tinker hence why I haven't tried them all yet

What about navman unlock?
[Please Register or Login to download file] Good choice.

Have a look in :
Data.zip
Project_config
iGO9.ini
[map_update_checker]
enabled=1
out_of_date_days=365
popup_repeat_hours=168
popup_repeat_seconds=0
popup_repeat_count=-1
map_check_seconds=86400
trigger_on_at_least_one_old=0
Change enabled to "0" who knows??
