igo8 will not load

Fri Sep 16, 2011 2:19 am

Hi all, I just installed my third Chinese 2 DIN head unit (Eonon G2213D) that came with Sygic GPS software. But in my other two setups I use igo8 software, I prefer it to Sygic.

Anyway, when I try to run igo8 in my new head unit it will not load.

I reset the path to Storagecard, igo8, igo8.exe.

I reboot the system and the GPS does try to load. I opens up to the main screen where it starts loading all the goodies, then it gets to "Starting" and comes to a halt. After a couple minutes it cycles through again to the same point. After a few more attempts I get an error message telling me that it failed to start on the last attempt and asks if I want to set it back to it's default "YES" or "NO". It doesn't matter which I chose it just goes back into the same vicious loop of trying to load over and over again untill that same error message pops up. It's obvious that the path is correct and the OS sees the .exe file, but it just will not load. Can you shed some light on this. Thanks

It's possible/obvious that a file got corrupted. The file itself or the (hardware) location on sd.
Format the sd. An excellent tool is Panasonic ([Please Register or Login to download file] ) and do a fresh install.
Or use a different sd card.

In addition, make sure that the data.zip you are using contains the correct resolution (800x480?), then delete the Save folder in your iGo8 folder, then, as a test, copy the sys.txt somewhere safe, then blank out the sys.txt in the iGo8 folder, restart, and see how far it gets.

I don't think the file(s) are corrupted. I have three of these Chinese HU's and the card works fine in the other two, just not this one. All three are HD 800x480. I'll try deleting the save folder and blank out the sys.txt later today and see what happens. I do have a back up saved to my computer so I can try just about anything without fear of losing the original files. Thanks, Dan

When the devices - or the card reader - are not identical, it still can be the sd card that is to blame. Some brands perform better.
So try an sd from a different maker.

Thanks for all your help, turns out that it was a resolution problem. I reset the resolution in sys.txt to 480x234 and deleted the saved folder, it's up and running beautifully.

Thanks again,
Dano
