Increasing TTS voices

Tue Mar 20, 2012 9:17 pm

For those who've been following my adventure, the tts voices are set in the unit to the max, but still a little low for me.

I see a number of files that show the tts (Susan - USA). If I wanted my son to play around with the file to see if he could raise
the voice using pc software, which file would be the right one?

Thanks

Chas521 suggested that before, but no change in volume.

That's why was asking which files to plays with to try to increase.

The basic volume stting for a Loquendo voice is located in the .vcf for the voice, for example Kate: Kate.vcf
If not present create an entry
volume = "100" to get max volume

Am I adding this to the .sys folder?

If so, under what heading in the .sys?

Nope, you'll find the .vcf file inside the Loq folder as it is directly for the voice.
You were talking about TTS not Primo/Igo volume ;)
Edit:
Sorry, just checked and the Igo voices are modified 6.9 voices that don't include that file.

This is a VCF file for Kate:
; Voice Configurator File for Loquendo TTS

"Description" = "British English female voice"
"BaseVoice" = "Kate"
"VoicePath" = "EnglishGb/Kate"
"VocalDBName[0]" = "Kate"
"VocalDBName[1]" = "KateGildedPhrases"
"VocalDBName[2]" = "KateGildedParalinguistics"
;"VocalDBName[3]" = "KateTT"
;"Pitch" = ""
;"Speed" = ""
"Volume" = "100"
"Timber" = "40"
"Built-in" = "Yes"
"LinkedSde[ALL]" = "Yes"

Not sure if it will work for the 6.9 voices, Chas should know more about that, but if you put a "kate.vcf" with the above content into the folder "tts_loq" it might work as well.
At least you can't do any harm in trying.
Similar for other voices.

I went into the tts_log/EnglishUS/Susan and came up with this. Don't see anything with .vcf file

What Nav are you using?

This works for igo8
[dynamiccompressor]
compressor=1
a0=56806
thrs=24703
ratio=8
gain=6

This for Primo 2 (prob 1.2 as well)
[dynamiccompressor]
compressor=1
ratio=9
gain=9

Also check this in sys.txt
[sound]

dynamic_volume_voice_volume_max=255
dynamic_volume_os_volume_max=255
config=maximum

voice_volume=255
effect_volume=255
os_volume=255
sound_volume=255

@ everyone here that has posted

You have to know that I know what I'm doing. Camaro69 is using MY iGO8 program. He is presently using the maximum TTS sound that can be used. There are no other sys.txt entries nor volume changes that can be made. I've done everything. It's his device's installation that is causing the problem not the program itself. My Mio C320's program volume is fine.

Incidentally and FYI, the sound level change is found in the commands.csv of the voice itself.

@camaro69
You did increase ALL the sound setting [especially the master volume] to the maximum setting?

Hi Chas,

Yes, all settings are at max. That's why I thought about playing with the wave files themselves.

Nope. Won't do a thing. That is why I had you play with the gain setting and there was no change whatever number you used. What happens with the volume if you use a non-TTS voice?

Nope, No change and I also tried UK voices, but the female voices seem a little louder since they have a higher pitch.

I did like the Amy US voice, but it's not TTS. Anyway of knowing if it comes in TTS?

Amy does not.

Poor Amy. Such a nice voice with no where to go.

Is it possible to make a non-tts, a tts?

Thanks

No. It's much too difficult!
