Leave zipped or unzip?

Leave zipped or unzip?

Postby immusicman » Fri Nov 06, 2015 5:07 pm

Ok, I have looked about everywhere on here to try and find the answer to this question. I apologize if it is listed somewhere, but I didn't find it. My questions are these:

1) When putting the maps into the igo primo software, (I downloaded all the USA "state" HERE files), do I put the entire Zipped file for each state in the map subfolder? Or, do I unzip all 7 files for each state directly into the map subfolder?

2) After I complete the proper way, should I delete the original R3 base map?

3) Once I have updated the maps, when I copy IGO primo to the SD card, should I send the file from my PC to the SD in the one large WinRAR archive file? Or should I extract the contents to the SD card?

Once again, I apologize because this is the first time I have done this. These sound like something simple, but I don't want to screw it up. Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

Her are some old posts. Read them and read them at least one more time.
Don't think they are old or obsolete. The way of installation isn't changed.

The resolution in early igi8 was a problem as was memory, esp for some - now very old devices, nevertheless the information in the 2DIN thread is extended and still useful.
About the basemap. Yes you can safely delete it, but why should you? It's about 5MB and I am sure you have that amount free. Besides, the basemap has an effect on color of land and see.

For the images credits go to robotcop, German forum. :023:

Thanks much. I had just found the "where to put map related files" The only other issue I see is there are 7 map files for each state and one is a POI file. The where to put map related files post shows the POI file to be placed in a different directory, and the actual map directory shows the other 6 files going there. So I guess the only question I have left is should I put the FBL, FDA, FJW, FPA, FSP, FTR in the map subfolder and take the POI folder for each state and move it to the POI directory, or just put all 7 files for each state in the map subfolder? Thanks again.

Just follow the post about where to put the map related files. ;)
The folder names are to be exact as the program doesn't find the folder if named different (e.g. maps instaed of map)

PS, I found images about the basemap function, see my previous post.

So the poi file then should be separated out of the 7 files and placed in the POI folder? It is confusing. Thanks again.
