Loading IGO onto a Silvercrest Navigator 4000

Wed Jan 04, 2012 5:30 pm

Hi all; a friend of mine has given me his unit to try and update it. It is a 64MB ROM 64 MB RAM unit with a 300 Mhz processor and screen res of 320 x 240. It runs Wince 4.2. I have tried installing tomTom Navigator on it, without success. As I am using Windows 7, ir uses Windows Mobile Device Center to connect it to the PC. he maximum SD card it will accept is 2GB.

It currently has an old version of Myguide that came with it, and an old IGO 8 system with maps a few years out of date. The addons.txt file has the following:

[modules]
GPS = "icons/files.bmp", "", 0

[GPS]
MyGuide = "", "\\Flash Disk\\myguide\\myguide.exe"
iGO8 = "", "\\Storage Card\\iGO8\\igo8.exe"

Multimedia = "", "\\Windows\\ceplayer.exe"
Explorer = "", "\\Windows\\Explorer.exe"

Can you please advise the steps for getting either IGO8 or IGO Primo running on it, and what maps, POI and speedcams can be installed.

Many thanks in advance,

Hotpants

I have a device similar to this, (Medion 210T) and with a bit of tweaking it runs iGO Primo 2.0 with all enhanced features.

However i built this version of iGO Primo 1.1 here which should work "out of the box" on your device, (You may have to change GPS settings though)

It's not the latest version, but is 100% stable.

Forget transferring with Activesync and install to a SD card, It's easier and faster, plus removing the card and rebooting should load the original software.

Either edit the line below to match or rename the folder\file.exe of the download from above.

What maps are you after?

Thanks for the link, and just downloading. Primarily after a UK map, but if they are interchangeable on an SD card, then depending on the 2 GB card limit, Western Europe.

UK and ROI Content pack

Again not the latest, but allows you to setup and test before committing to downloading the whole of Europe.

For an explanation of all the files, and where they go see here

iGO Primo with TTS + UK&ROI is less than 1GB in size

Hi fatboyfun; apologiesfor the delay in replying, but been away working for a few days. I've successfully loaded everything on to the sd card, and it boots up fine. I'm just waiting for a satellite lock, but will wait for a while. I will possibly have to change the port and baud rate. Once that is up and running I will see whether it's worth updating to the latest version of map and software.

Thanks again for the assistance.

Cheers

Auto detecting gps means the gps settings in sys.txt are wrong

Looking for satellites means they are correct but the device is still waiting for a lock.

OK. satellite picks up fine after changing settings. Voices work fine, found out how to search by postcode LOL.

A link to the West of Europe map would be great.

If there is not too much difference in the latest software, I'll probably leave it on your stable version.

Here are the latest Navteq (2011 Q3) Every country is a separate file, so just add what you need.

Regarding upgrading to the later versions, 1.2/2.0 will probably work, but the Nuance TTSPro doesn't work under WinCE 4.2, it's possible to adapt Loquendo to work, but it's a lot of work just to give the device back to someone else, so it's up to you...

Thanks fatboyfun, as its not mine, I'll leave it as it is as it is working well with your version.

I might try it on the Myguide and Blaupunkt now as well for fun :).

Thanks again for the help.
