I have completely reinstalled the program. I unzipped using Winrar and built a completely new SD card, but, it still defaults and throws up the same errors.
It looks like the configuration that you used for USA content is not compatible with UK content and it is trying to load a parameter that isn't present in my setup. What, I do not know.
If the situation cannot be resolved I will have to construct another iGO8 folder.
I have previously downloaded iGO8.3.5.231128 and I may have to use this, but I would like TTS sounds and a new skin. Can you tell me where to download the information for the ui_igo8 and TTS_LOQ folders.
Thanks for all your help so far, without it I would be lost.

Not sure how helpful it is but I had problems installing IGO on a noname lately too.
A version that I prefer on all my CE devices simply refused to work at all.
Random freezes, reboots and generally very slow.
So I changed the GPS settings and tried the SD in a different GPS - no problems and all working fine!
Here is what I did to meke it work:
Started from scratch with just a plain IGO and the map - only standard voices.
Working.
Added more content bit by bit and checked again.
Computer voices could be rled out that way as they worked too.
But when came to additional map content the device **** itself!
Was slowing down a bit after adding the POI and cam files but the end was reached after adding the buildings and DEM files.
Turned out the graphic system eats up all RAM and CPU power causing the GPS to crash.
IMHO the easiest way to get IGO working without problems is by installing the various contens one by one.
Keep the sys.txt as simple and short as possible!
Once you know if you can handle all features you can start the finetuning and sys.txt changes.
I'm not an expert for IGO or Primo, but so far I always managed to get at least IGO working on all my devices.

You're quite right. As said in post #19 above I have previously downloaded a bare bones copy of iGO8 which works, but I want the additional skin and TTS voices which requires further downloads, which I cant find.
chas521's offering provides the ideal solution but for some reason I cant get it lo load.

I had the same problem with that verison of Igo... It kept claiming a error on me, as (vInUSA) or something like that. After I got around that issue, it then kept coming up with chinese keyboard error. and then, yet another error. All those, I could click thru. and finally got the program to load and run.
The thing I don't like about iGO 8, is that you can't set multiple way points (or I've not found out how to do it), and the maps always seem upside down. In my Primo setup, I always drive with the car/arrow facing up, and the map following.. But in 8, it seems the arrow/car has a mind of its own. I set it to 2D, and all is well, while its zoomed in.. But, as soon as it decides to show the entire route, the entire thing is shown just like a picture of the state you look at, with the arrow/car following the route.. Which for me, is mostly from top to bottom.. I hate that.
As a follow up, I decided to dump iGO8 myself, and run Primo 2.4 or 2.0... whichever one it is.. And it seems to work fine for me.. However, I've been some places, where the address was off.
BTW, I run Linux. and RAR is part of the archive manager.. I'm wondering if that could be part of my issue as well.

Let me explain something. My Mio 320 device that I use is a 64MB RAM that is really the minimum you should use with TTS. My present device has TTS, ALL the maps and pois for the 50 states plus Canada, speedcams for the entire US, buildings for NYC and if I need to check a map from another area [UK or Australia], it works fine. So, all I'm saying here is that my program [iGO8] works 100%.
However, try what DU is saying. Put my program on your SD card and follow my post in the iGO8 thread regarding how to minimize the program and then start adding back things one by one and see how that goes.

I also have two Linux (Lubuntu) boxes here, never had a problem extracting, but compressing can have issues when extracting on a Windows machine with WinRAR.

HI
thanks for everybodys help.
The only way I could get iGO8 to work was to load a completely unworked copy, (igo8.3.5.231128) that I downloaded.
I then looked at my copy of Primo2.4 again and I changed the route mode from FAST to EASY. I checked the routes that I had used and which gave me frustrating results, and now the routes seem to be ideal. So, for the moment I am going to carry on with Primo but still look at iGO8 at my leisure. I shall certainly follow all of chas521 suggestions, who's advice was more than helpful and fully appreciated and without whom this forum would lose a great asset.

Strange about the iGO8 version. Mine should have worked 100%. If you want to add TTS to your iGO8, just ask.
