Works like a charm. This was the first time I saw this unlock as well. It works by replacing the MioMap.exe file in the internal storage, so it activates by simply clicking the default MioMap button in the original menu.

I would like to take a look at it. Can you upload it and show screenshots of what it looks like? Thanks.

You can download it here
Code: Select all

One screenshot is here
Code: Select all

PS: He mentions "xstylr91" in the instructions, maybe he's the xtyler92 you were talking about?

Thanks. I'll download those uploads. Yes, xtyler92 is the same person as xtyler91. He had to change his name. It's now obvious that it was "borrowed" from xtyler92.

Saw your screenshot. Looks VERY familiar to past history. However if it works, then good.

I have a MIO C320 which is essentially the same as MIO C520 except that the C320 does not have bluetooth and have smaller flash disk. You actually can put maps (or content) on flash disk and SD card and igo 8.3 should be able to see and use these maps (or content) at the same time. Put your content on the root folder of your igo installation on your flash drive and put your content that would not fit on your flash disk to your sd card under folder IGO/content and igo 8.3 should be able to find it. This the default. Do not put anything on your sys.txt that would override this default, e.g., a [folder] section. If you have folder section on sys.txt, remove it.

It is a little bit tricky with Primo, and I don't recommend putting content in flash disk and sd card for Primo (but it can also be made to work with Primo but pois on SD are not seen, just maps).

So far I only tried with Primo, I'm not sure if iGO 8.3 supports settings for trucks (height, width etc.).

@MatesCZ :

If you would like to try using primo, put your additional maps on sd card under folder IGO\content\maps. If you have [folder] section on sys.txt, remove it. Check also system.ini in save/profile/01 folder and remove [folder] section. But if you really need to have a [folder] section, make sure to have the following entry:

[folder]
has_secondary_root=1 ; (default is 1)
secondary_root="igo" ; (this is also the default, if you change this to, say ="primo", then put secondary maps on sd card in primo\content\maps )

And as I previously stated, you cannot put additional pois on SD card, they would not be seen by primo.

Ok, I will try this tomorrow and see if it works. Thanks.

So I tried this today and it really works :-) Now the Primo can see maps both in the internal memory and on the SD card. I'm still going to get a bigger SD card though, so I could fit the POIs and other stuff in as well (I still wasn't able to fit even all the maps in this way), but now I finally know it is really possible to split it like this.

@MatesCZ,

Good to know it works. MIO C520 could definitely use a bigger SD card. I have tried using a 16GB SDHC on a MIO C320, that should work on a MIO C520 as well.

It most probably would, I have 4GB Kingston SDHC on the way, I'll try and see how that goes.
