Sound like they tried replacing the original application with another gps programme or script, does the unit have a SD card slot?

If yes I can prepare something that may stop the rebooting long enough to try to undo whatever your friend did.

If not then there's nothing you can do.

Try by doing a hard reset of the C220. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds, continu to hold it after the shutdown screen appears.
Then release the orange power button when the screen goes completely blank, then hold the power button down for 10 seconds to restart the device.

Or tell your friend to buy you a new device.

On most devices Windows CE pauses while the screen calibration utility is open, ie, No reboots or programme activation, So download the attached archive and extract the two files to the root of the SD card (Do not rename them or put them in a folder) and place the card in the device and switch on...

Because it's impossible to know what your friend did exactly this is a 50/50 gamble on whether it works or not.

If you see the calibration screen connect your device to your PC and then report back...

Because he's edited or replaced something on the device incorrectly the mio pre-loader software thinks there's a problem and reboots the device to correct itself, reboot loops can be impossible to solve sometimes.
