Because your C220 has only 32 MB, I'm afraid that you cannot use TTS but have to use a non-TTS voice. FYI, iGO8 maps will not work with MioMap 3.3. It is a different operating system [program]. Incidentally, what maps are you looking for? What area? FYI, your resolution is 320_240.

Well... if it were me, I would get igo8, this way you can use the newer maps. You will probably want to run an unlock on your device (just to keep things simple) and then run igo8 off the SD card. When you run igo8 for the first time choose a non-TTS voice, since as chas stated you won;t be able to use TTS on a c220. You will also want to make sure not to add any .dem files to the Dem folder in igo8 (again uses a lot of memory). With igo8 using a non-tts voice and no dem files, things should run smoothly for you. Also don;t add any speedcam files, since they are also memory hogs and a c220 doesn't have the memory for it. I know a lot of people that us igo8 (as I stated above) on their c220's.... it will bring new life to your device.

Now, igo8 isn;t your only option. You can run Destinator on your c220 and get newer maps than you have with MioMap.... or even PolNav. PolNav maps are from 2008 though, but still newer than miomap maps. Another option (although I never heard much of anyone trying it) could be to run the PDA version of TomTom. Just know that using TomTom on your device will require using a keygen to unlock the software and also to unlock the maps (complicated and if you live in the US or Canada, not really worth it). I personally use Destinator quite a bit, but if I had to choose just one software then it would be igo8.

Here is the program but you will have to make changes in the sys.txt relative to your device. That's why I told you your resolution because that's the change you'll need.

You'll also need an unlock. Instructions are contained in the download.

LOL... it seems i have used up my monthly bandwidth. Kind of funny since I never used it before and would get close to 500 hits a day. Either my website suddenly got more popular or freewebs is just being a pain. That or someone could just be attacking my website to cause the bandwidth problem. I'll try to get into my website and see what's going on.

Well it seems they froze my site and want me to pay to unfreeze it... stupid freewebs. Anyways I got the links for my SD Unlock:

Download for c220 SD Unlock:

and my SD-Free Unlock:

I recommend the SD Unlock though since the SD-Free unlock requires you run the SD Unlock first and connect to your computer via active sync. So easiest thing to do is just use the SD Unlock.

Thanks for useful links and tips!
Where do i place Destinator and maps for destinator? Name of folder?

I cant connect to my computer via active sync. Do i need a newer version than 4.5.0 ?

If you really want to try TomTom on your C220 device; it is possible, I played a little with this very popular navigation software on mines. There is however a large distance between IGO8 and TT, once you experienced both.
Another tip when using IGO8 on a C220: use a simple skin, like default or Kikker 2.5. Search the web for more tips. You really can enjoy it !

Destinator goes on the root of your SD card in a folder called Destinator. I don't know where you downloaded it but didn't they give you instructions? Also didn't they inform you that you might have to make a port and baud change to fit your device?

Sorry to dsiagree with you about using TT on a CE device. It's a fine Nav when you use a TT device but not so good on a CE device. The reason I can say that is because Xtyler92 tried TT on his Mio and he didn't care for it. In fact, he didn't like it so much that he deleted it off his SD card. On the other hand, your iGO8 skin choices were fine.

Well, I deleted it and then readded it and then deleted it and finally readded it again. My last reasoning for readding it was because the maps were updated so frequently and with some uncertainty as to the future of PNA support from software companies, I figured it best to keep TT and GarminXT since it seemed they would be the last to bail given the size of their companies. However I rarely use TT since in North America TT isn't a very good software and the TA maps aren't ideal for routing. In Europe it is different though, since TA maps are better than NT maps there. So TomTom is a decent choice for people living there. I am not sure I would use it as my main navigation program (even in Europe), however it is a nice backup program and maps are still released and shared on a pretty regular basis.

Ultimately what you use will be a personal choice. Most, and I do mean most, people just use igo8 or Amigo. I have a feeling these same people will be switching over to primo once versions that fit their screen resolutions becomes available. There is a downside for people with 32MB devices though and that is the question to how well Primo will work on them. No worries though since igo8 will work on a c220 and it seems primo maps will work in igo8 (at least for the time being). So you should be good for awhile with getting igo8 running on your c220. Plus you get the added satisfaction of being able to use either TA maps or NT maps.... so you can find which one works best for you where you live.

Hey xtyler you helped me a ton over on a different site. Well now I am working on my c220 and all the links are dead. Can I use the 320 520 720 files or do I need to stick with the 220. I really like my c310 especially running igo thanks for all the help with that.

When are you going to get your website back up ;)
