"mio" pda p-550-l

Postby Elmer » Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:58 pm

Hi,

I'm new here and have not much knowledge in technical specifications etc.

I have a couple of simple questions:

1) Will the new "IGO PRIMO" suitable to the above PDA ?

2) Does it have an Portrait skin (Hight larger than width) ?

3) Can I download some trial version ?
If so - where from and where can I find a user manual for installing and use ?

4) Does t come with Hebrew Keyboard & Hebrew Interface ?

That is all for now,

Thanks, Elm

1. Not yet I think for now - but I could be wrong there. Have you thought about installing iGO8?

2. Does it have your resolution - yes.

3. You can get everything you need right here for the program. But remember that you also need content.

4. No, not available.

I am with Chas... I don't think it will run on your device. Your best bet for now is to use igo8 until there is a PDA version of the Primo software. Igo8 and Primo use the same maps, so you won't be missing anything other than the Primo interface and a few little added options that most people probably won't use. Go with igo8 and save yourself the headache, and once a PDA version of primo comes out then you can try it and see if it is something worth replacing igo8 with.

Thank you, BOTH, for a prompt and detailed answer.

For the last year, or so, I use the Igo8 ver. 8.3 - with the latest Gurion Skin - but I thought the "Primo" will be a "big step" forward.

It does not seem so from reading between the lines of xtyler post.

Thanks again, Elm

Well... it's a big step forward in the sense that with Primo you get a lot of the functions you find in igo8 skins with the default Primo skin. You can't say that Primo reinvents the wheel since the skinners of igo8 already did that. Now, where Primo shines is with the ease of use of the menus and it seems well thought out and put together in terms of the layout. So what you get with primo is more thrills (not new ones) out of the bag, where with igo8 you have to add a skin to get those same thrills. I hope that makes sense. Now, there are some new features in Primo with some of the newer files that go in the map folder (hhr files I think they are called), however those files seem only available in Eastern Europe for the moment.

I tend to look at Primo as if Amigo and a well skinned igo8 had a child. As I said though, there should be no rush to jump on Primo if there is not a version for your device, since a well skinned igo8 will provide most of the same functions.

Thanks a lot.

I liked you metaphor regarding giving birth.

It seems as I am going to wait a year or so.

IGO 8.3 serves me excellent. I have no complains.
