Natural (non-TTS) Voice files compatibility in various versi

Postby civicok » Wed Sep 04, 2013 12:49 am

Apologies. Trying to post at Languages, Voice & Speed Cam, but without posting permission.

I have several natural (non-TTS) voice files (csv type) that work in Primo 1.2, but only some work in Primo 2.0 & 2.4. I had tried to compare the difference but cannot find any clue. The flag csv_voice_enabled=1 is set in sys.txt already.

Is there a way to convert these voice files to work in Primo 2.0 or 2.4 please?

For the most part, we have members post in the general discussion area after which a mod will then move it to the appropriate section. We do this because MANY members were posting in the wrong section to begin with and we only had to move it anyway.

As to your TTS question, I don't have the answer. However, perhaps another member who has the different Primo programs will make an upload of their working TTS voices for the different versions. For example:

Primo version 1.0
voices

Primo v. 1.1
voices

Primo 1.2
voices

etc.

AFAIK, non-TTS voices should work with all versions.

Thank you very much for the response. I have the same impression that non-TTS voices should work for all versions. But the fact seems NO. There is one voice file that I recreated myself (recording my own voice too) for iGo8, it continues working in Primo 1.2, but then stopped working in Primo 2.0 and 2.4. I also had other voice files facing the same problem.

I am wondering any member has similar experience that can share here.

Honestly, this is the first time that I ever heard of non-TTS voices not working in the different versions and I've been doing this for a long time. However, I don't know everything so I guess it's possible. Other than your question can we help you try to get a voice?

Thank you. I can survive without those voices. It is just a learning process to dig out more from Primo. I am attaching some samples of Working and Non-working voice files for whom has interest to test. They are Chinese and Thai voices.

Thanks Chas for mentioning me.

Civicok
I've had a glance over your "non working files" and noticed that they are incomplete, with some files missing. It may work in older versions, but certainly not in the newer ones.
Perhaps you download them again from a reliable source.

Also the csv files are older sets for iGO 8. For Primo, you may wish to use the lua sets which are more efficient and with more contents.
