hiya all
keep getting the above error when selecting destination from history, tried updating cfg file with latest one available but still same, happens with all maps (tried 2011, 2012, 2013), tried original poi pack and full poi pack, all files used off here from primo 2.4 (9.6.13.267029) to maps so nothing I use is from another source.
also, realtime route alternatives when offered crashes programme if select preview.

any suggestions/solutions?

This is usually down to a faulty data.zip (or skin)
Open the data.zip and find the file in one of the resolution folders, then copy it to the same location in your devices resolution folder.
Ie, copy it from the 480_272 folder to the 320_240 folder, be aware there may be two or more copies in the folder, for example in the night sub folder etc.
Obviously don't unzip, work within the winrar window.

Keep it on your computer.

You wrote that you've replaced the global_cfg file, so I assume you're using Primo.
Now, where to put it:
- Make a backup of your data.zip
- Open your data.zip with winrar v4.01 only. Don't unzip it
- Navigate inside the archive to ui_igo9-> common
- Use winrar's "Add" button, and choose "poi_mapdistant.bmp" you've downloaded, and click "ok"
- Click "ok" again

Data.zip is now containing the missing file. Move it to your device and check if it works now.

fatboyfun, did as you suggested and put file in my resolution folder in ui_igo9 (my resolution is 480_272) no luck still same error

both suggestion then got me thinking, so did both and also put file in ui_igo9 common (as when I looked in that folder the file wasn't present just as it wasn't present in when looked in your suggestions)
and voila, no more error

solved, cannot fault you guys

your corespobdence saved my day - i also copied this file to resulution folder and common. and it worked!

The way meadyyyy proposed (double action) solved my problem, too.
I had the same "Failed to opeb file: $poi_mapdistant.bmp Exiting application." that was popping up in always same locations and caused to turn off iGO Primo.

About your problem program crashes when avoiding roads it is a error with your version of primo see this post for discussion and help:

The (double action) method, in my case (single action....copy the poi_mapdistant.bmp in common folder)solved my problem, too.
