I am running Primo2.4, with the dimkaWA_P174 skin.
On its own it runs fautlessly, as it does if i run it with the music player running.
However, with the music player running, after a number of tracks have played the music player stops and a hard reset is required.
This appears to be a memory problem and max_memory has been set to 100000000. This is just a figure plucked from the air.
The music player is a third party device, not the one included in Primo and running on its own has mo problems.
The device they run on is a built in Chinese unit with 256mB of memory included.
Do you agree that this looks like a memory problem? If so what would be a realistic value for the memoy allocation and should reserve_memory and cache be set?

It sounds like your problem is with the music player not with the Primo. I use a 2din head unit and also run Primo 2.4 with dimkaWA_P174. The 2din has a built in music player and I never head any problems using it for hours on a long trip while the Primo is running. Does the music player work ok with the Primo off?

The music player works perfectly when running on its own.
Can you tell me what GPS unit you are running?

I have a no name Chinese 2din unit, I have had it for about a year and it is perfect. What do you have, is it also a 2din?

[Please Register or Login to download file] This is the link to the unit that i have.
It is supplied by Sinosmart and in my opinion is a very good unit. It runs under WinCE 6.0. The only problem i find is that i outlined above.
Any possibility of giving me the link to your device?
Thankyou.

What do you mean by "the music player is a 3rd party device"? Doesn't the 2DIN headunit have a built-in music player (since it has an SD card slot)? Or is the built-in player the one you are having problems with?
If the 2DIN doesn't have a built-in music player, which music player are you using?
I too have a 2DIN headunit and it works fine while laying MP3s - but the unit has a built-in music player that is accessed via the head-unit itself (not through Primo or the "navigation side" of the 2DIN).

Looks like a nice unit, it is not a standard 2din. I never see an 8" display before, most units I have seen are either 6.2" or 7", my is 6.2".
It sounds like there is some conflict between the Primo and the music player. Can you post your sys.txt file, my reserve_memory=1500000, maybe there is a problem with your "100000000" or you have some other strange setting.

[Please Register or Login to download file] This is my "sys.txt" file. I don't have reserve_memory or cache set.
I have reset maximum_memory to 100000000 wih no difference.
The unit i have was updated earlier year this from a 7" display to 8", along with a faster CPU and memory increase from 128mB to 256mB.

Your sys.txt looks similar to mine except to:
In [debug]
I have reserve_memory=1500000 and cache=262144
I don't have any max_memory=
I would try these changes and see if they make any difference.

I reloaded the firmware for my unit and reset the "max_memory" to 80000000, in the "sys.txt" file.
For 32 minutes it ran perfectly, and then the device shut completely down and immediately booted back up to the previous working state. This then repeated every 11 minutes.
Looking at the crash log, that was generated it showed 0mB-free memory, 76 mB_total useable memory and 76 mB max memory.
It also showed 1 mB-reserve memory and actual cache size 7 mB.
This told me that the device was running out of memory and shutting down.
I have now changed the "max_memory" back to 100 mB and so far no problems.
I have yet to complete a fairly long run to see if the performance holds up. This i am hoping to do tonight or tomorrow.
