Navman S50 Help

Postby bevjones » Sat Feb 11, 2012 9:12 am

Hi Everyone...

Just a few quick questions that hopefully you guys may be able to help me out with....

Which version of primo is best for my Navman S50? ( Windows CE v5.00 )

I live in the UK, so which is the latest version of the map?

Is there any way to have Primo auto start when the device is switched on, like it was supposed to be on there in the first place?

Is there any other cool stuff I could use also.

Many thanks in advance people.

You can run the latest Primo 2.0

The latest maps are navteq 2011Q3 or tomtom for iGO 2011.12

It can be made to autostart but it's a bit of a faff

TTSPro with the dimka skin is pretty cool.

Thank you I really appreciate your help.

EDIT **

After installation of the program, when trying to run it, I get an out of memory popup.

Plus the maps do not seen to be working, the downloads are messed up I think.

I'll try google them

Check the memory division on the device.

Yeah I tried moving the slider, but I seem to still get the error.

Does it make a difference that I place the program floder actually on my flash disk rather than on an SD disk?

I do have an older version of primo working but I just wanted to update the main app and maps.

That should not make a difference, as long as the path is correct for whatever menu you use (if any)..how are you actually starting the program?

Maybe back up your old version to your PC, and then remove it from your flash drive. With no content yet added (if you added any maps, voices, etc to the new version, remove them for now), Primo2 should not give you a memory error when it starts, but should go into initial setup mode (even without any maps yet installed--the basemap is enough for setup to start). If a SAVE folder has already been created in the Primo2 folder, delete it and try to start the program again.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

The S50 only has 512MB internal memory, you may run into space issues when you start adding content, A 2GB SD card would be required then, If Primo is on the SD card then you cannot use the suspend feature on the device.

Could I not totally remove my Navman software, or even just copy it over to my PC then delete it from my device, do you think that would work for my memory issue?

No don't do that, certain parts if the original programme are required for device operations like USB connection etc

How are you upgrading the version of Primo, some people run into issues because they assume that sys.txt entries and files generated like speedcam databases can be copied from the previous version, sometimes starting again is best.

All I was doing was totaly deleting th folder and copying over the new one.

I have put my old version back on now and its working perfectly again, just need to try and update the maps I suppose.

I have put Primo 2 on a S50 myself so I know it works, I'm not sure what's going on here, I'll have another look at it later when i get home...
