Need help installing Primo on a Chinese GPS

Postby FullScreen57 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 12:57 pm

I have installed Primo v1.1 on the SD card of a generic Chinese GPS but it is extremely slow, jittery, experiencing long response times and screen refreshes.

  • I have confirmed that it is 480x272 using the "Resolution Tester SDMMC" download
  • The device is supposed to have 128MB. Is there a utility I can download and run to check this?
  • I have attached a copy of my SYS.TXT

Help!!

Thanks.

Just sometning I have found. Ive had similar with Primo inst's.
Replacing with Igo8 was then ok.
I think Primo is "hungry" and some processors dont like it.
Try Igo8?

If you must use Primo, Start again, Download the latest version from this site and one map, And get that working before thinking about tts, buildings, dem files etc... If the basic version is the same as it was before then take bazzles advice and install iGO8.

Bazzle, Fatboyfun and Eskro,

Thanks for the replies and tips. Halloween and the kids' activities took Sunday away from me.

I will first try Fatboyfun's suggestion of downloading and installing Primo from scratch; failing which I will fail over to iGo8.

Eskro - I'm not sure about the SD card class. It's the card I received with the device. Any way I can find out what the class is? Any utility?

Thanks

@FullScreen57:

Does your device have bluetooth? I have read somewhere that some device's BT interferes with the gps. Try disabling BT first and see if that helps.
