My new GPS

Hope I'm not breaking the rules with this post, I just wanted to share my new GPS purchase with the forum. To set a frame of reference, my previous GPS was a Insignia NAV01, so my standards were pretty low. It served me well, but the hardware is old and outdated. I found this 5" GPS on Aliexpress for $40.52 shipped. Yeah, it was a long 28 day wait for it to be delivered, but I couldn't he happier with it. This GPS is pretty basic, no frills(bluetooth or video-in) except the FM transmitter, but the basics work really well. The GPS has IGO Primo 9.6.2209584 installed. It loads Primo in about 7 seconds, and after the first satellite contact at my location, which took a few seconds for a lock, the satellite lock is virtually instantaneous. That's from inside my house. Depending on the time of day I get from 8-12 satellite locks from inside my house. The resolution is 480x800 and the plastic screen is relatively responsive. It also has a backlight adjustment. So far the only complaints I have are that the included USB cable will only work for file transfers, but not to charge, and a USA DEM file was not included. The included maps were 2013 Q4 as well as the POIs. I've only had this device for 24 hours, but it has run a 16 hour simulation without fault. Another good feature of this GPS is that the Navi path is configurable, so it has the potential to run any GPS software. I won't bore you with the specs. If your in the market for a good cheap GPS you can check this one out at [Please Register or Login to download file] .

I have no affiliation with Aliexpress, except that I've made a few purchases there and have never been burned. If the rules prohibit this kind of post, I sincerely apologize for my ignorance. If anyone has questions about the GSP I'll do my best to answer them.

BTW I have loaded Primo 2.4 with the Decent skin and they work fine.

One more BTW. Based on the splash screen, I would conclude that this device uses a MediaTek chipset. MediaTek was selected by Garmin as the chipset for there outdoor devices. [Please Register or Login to download file]

Satellites acquired inside my house.

Update: Noticed another minor negative. The screen is glossy, so in sunlight the glare can be pretty bad. A anti-glare screen protector should correct that.

Cheap as chips, that's brilliant!

There are some outstanding deals from China at the moment and it all, for the price, works extremely well.

The navigation programs supplied with their GPS systems usually need to be improved to obtain an optimum program, and with the help of this forum that is not usually a problwm.

i thought they usually come with iGo8 which is okay, but not great. Binatone F430 comes with TurboDog which is so poor, but runs iGo Primo so well. Perfect combination.
