That is iGO 2006.
Is the screen square? What is the screen size? 3inches?
Edit: when you open data.zip, what is the contents? And in one of these folders, are there subfolders with a name like 240_320 or 320_320 or .... ?
Edit 2; I fear the device has only 32MB of memory, which is enough without the extra eye and ear candies. The original program is on the internal memory? And the maps as well? Also there is room for an extra SD card? And you know how the device calls it?

@combat goofwing
What is going to happen next is that you will need to download and install a cracked iGO8.3 from
http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-5-2011 Use the depositfiles mirror. Because you have only 32 MB RAM, you cannot have TTS or much content. We'll instruct you what editing changes to make in the program after you put it on your friend's device.

Which program are you talking about?

You may need to install activesync (or windows mobile device Center) on your PC to connect to the device

I like where YT made a cut-down version because it made good sense for low-memory devices. He does that a lot BTW! I've done some tweaking of his program and here it is. Naturally, some changes will be required for your particular device.

YT and/or FBF, perhaps you should add this download to your safe place in case it's needed again.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. You should delete YT's cut-down version and use my cut-down version instead.

As I understand the original software is on a SD card, with a mobilenavigator folder which contains some more folders (content, licence, etc) and some files and a mobilenavigator.exe file?
The easiest way to install a different version is to find another SD card (not SDHC) and copy the new software to it, duplicate the folder and file names of the original software
Ie...
Mobilenavigator\mobilenavigator.exe
Keep the original SD card untouched so the device can be reset back to default.
