YT,
He says that it will only be used in the US. He can delete the UK map AFTER he is sure that it is receiving a satellite lock. We may need to correct his baud and port. He can also delete the UK and Australian voices. And yes, he can delete the phoneme files.

That's basically what I said. He needs a local map for now.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

That's possible. The UK map that you have is for a different version. Also, did you read my post above regarding finding your port and baud?

Perhaps someone could upload a current UK map for you for iGO8.3 to see if you get a satellite lock? It could take some time getting a lock so be patient.

Port and baud are the built-in receivers to get a device's satellite lock. Each device has certain numbers. Do a Google search if you want to know more.

EDIT: Take your device outdoors now with a clear view of the sky and see if you can get a lock. I left a basemap on your device so you can check it out.

See here:
-UK--ROI-Content-pack.
It's way more than you need, but just use one UK map for testing, and disregard the rest. Delete your current (old) map first.

Try this:
Start iGO, go into Settings>Right Arrow>GPS...make sure "GPS Enabled" is checked, and tap the Autodetect button in the lower right corner. Let it scan...if you get "GPS receiver has been detected successfully", you should be good to go. Go outside in an area where there is a clear view of the open sky and wait for a satellite connection...this could take from a few minutes to 20 minutes or more. If it locks correctly, the map should zoom to your current location.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

The screen flickering may be a hardware issue...maybe it's just old and/or on it's way out?
Maybe it has had some flickering before?
Hard to say without actually seeing the device or trying various brightness settings (if possible).
If that's not too bothersome, you should be good. You can remove the UK map (or leave it there..it probably makes no difference) and send it on to wherever.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.
