Newb here--help would be greatly appreciated....Rosen Nav Mu

Hello

First of all, I just joined yesterday and have been going through every thread I can in order to see if I could sort this all out. This site is a great asset and everything I've read has blown my mind---I didn't know you could do so much with a GPS system. I deal with radiation every day in my line of work, I can do math, percentages, physics, and all sorts of other things, but you guys are way more savy than I could ever be regarding these matters. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Anyway, I have a 2012 Chevy Tahoe that has a Rosen Multimedia GM Series Dash System, Model DS/DE-GM1010. It has a Windows CE Core 5.0 and was manufactured in 2011. The week of Thanksgiving, my Navigation system stopped working and would only give an error message--can't remember the message. For the last year it has worked perfectly, but then one day, error message. I removed the SD card, downloaded the Naviextras Toolbox app referenced on Rosen's website, and ran a diagnostic on the card. The toolbox app stated that there was a new OS update and recommended I backup and install the new update, which I did. I got the message that the backup completed successfully, and the OS update commenced. The update appeared to finish, but afterwards, the software would not recognize my SD card. I tried accessing it thought the Explore window on my computer, and windows stated the drive needed to be formatted, which I did--I had the backup after all, right? WRONG!!! When i went to install the backup, it's nowhere on my computer. I think I got faulty success messages due to the corrupted/faulty SD card. Regardless, after spending days trying to recover the information off of the newly formatted SD card, I was finally successful...I think. The only issue is that now I have all of these files and folders, and I'm not real sure how they should be structured on my SD card in order to get them working again.

Here's what I recovered, and I haven't modified or moved anything...this is the way the recovery program structured them (ICare Recovery, btw):

1FAT32

==> DIR0 Has all of the folders for the Buildings, Car, Dem, Voice, etc--all of the contents seem to be zipped (they should be, right?)
DIR1 FILES "device.nng",
"device_nng.0"
"Rosen P11 Primo USA" LYC
==>Folder ".reg" ==> FILES "NAVIEXTRAS.NNR"
"NAVIEXTRAS_DEVICE_SOFTWARES.ENC"
"NAVIESTRAS_PACKAGEDATA.NNP.ENC"

DIR2 FILES CITYHISTORY_V4.SAV
HISTORY.SAV
Lua_PERSISTENT_.SAV
mapstates.ini
persistent_vars.sav
ROUTE.DAT
SETTINGS_V2.SAV
STREET_HISTORY.sav
SYSTEM.INI
user.upoi
vehicle_profiles.dat
==> PRELOADS
Various PRL files

DIR3 FILES ycf and dcf files
==>Folder "Languages"
==>Folder "Voices"

1FAT32_000 ==>Folder "Raw Files"
==>Folder "RIFF Mutimedia File"
==>Folder "ShockWave File"
==>Folder "WMF Multimedia File"
==>Folder "Zip Compression File"

Can anyone tell me the rough layout of how these should be organized on my new SD card? The data came from my original SD card that worked in my radio, so I think it should still recognize the license unlock (if even needed). Also, the second group that was recovered may have no bearing on my GPS system--the Tahoe was bought used from Texas (I'm in NC), and the dealer sent me the card second-hand after we had already taken delivery.

Please let me know if you need any other info...I really want to get this fixed and it's driving me CRAZY!!!

Thank you again in advance.

Lynn

This is the folder structure for a full iGO8 installation, you may not have all the files and folders shown here in your installation.

Yeah, I've got quite a bit of data. The real shame is that neither Rosen nor Naviextras has a customer support phone number, only emails...and neither have replied to my request for help with this.

I've downloaded the IGO torrent and tried installing that until I could get the original files figured out, but the nav system keeps saying that it can't find the NNG file, even after I changed the IGO name to the name it requested

You may find the device is looking for a specific folder\filename.exe.

This thread might be helpful..?

thank you for that link--yes, I've been reading all of that. It's just a bit of a steep learning curve and I'm not sure how to rewrite sys.txt files and the like. I'm half-tempted to go grab my sledgehammer and just have a go at the frikking radio....

It's probably not worth trying to save the original software, just archive it somewhere safe in case you need a file or two.

Download one of chas521's iGO8 uploads from our iGO programme section, rename the folder/file.exe to match what your device expects and see what happens.

My device is asking for the nngnavi.exe file/root path. So do I just change the IGO.exe to the nngnavi name, or do I have to go other places in the folder set to change names?

According to the thread i linked to earlier the device looks for...

\MMC_Storage\NNG\nngnavi.exe

\MMC_Storage is what the device calls the SD card, this might be relevant later, but for now ignore it.

So rename the recently downloaded iGO8 folder to NNG and the iGO8.exe file within it to nngnavi.exe
Put the NNG folder onto the SD card, insert into device, reboot and start navigation...

You may just get an error message along the lines of "Application database not found", This is a sign that the device has found the new iGO8, but a small edit is needed...

Man, thanks so much for your info....that's a huge help. I'm downloading that file you mentioned now, and I'll go from there. Hope my questions are not too trifling--it's hard wrapping my head around this.

Ok, I got the "application database cannot be found" message....that's a good sign, I think?

GOT IT!!! Only need to adjust my resolution--the actual working screen is smaller than my head unit screen.

It is good, because the device has found the new iGO application.

To fix it you need to make a small edit to the file sys.txt.

Open it up in notepad, copy & paste it here...

I actually found the fix for it and got it working...any recommendations on changing the resolution to make the screen stretch to the unit's actual screen? I tried adding the landscape, x/y command values under the raw display, but it didn't change anything. BTW, here is the sys.txt file....

Adjust this entry to match the resolution...

resolution_dir="480_272"

Ok, I changed the resolution to 800 x 480 and the screen stretched...BUT now i'm getting an error message at the load screen that reads like this:

1st message = FFUI error unknown object idenitifer = [vIsInUSA], Script "[unnamed] command 0

When I press "ok", I get the 2nd message:
iGO failed to open file ui_igo8/common/ui.truck

Do I need to move the common folder into the 800_480 folder in order for it to be read? Or do I need to change the script again?
