To change back to the arrow, do this:
Go the GFX folder and open it. You see the first five files starting with car.mdl and ending with civic_blue.tex? Just delete them. Shutdown your device, wait a few seconds and re-start.

The .fbl map files in the download had a bunch of extra words/letters vs the way the .fbl files were named on the radio SD card. On the radio SD card they just have the state name( i.e. USA_New_Hampshire.fbl ). In the download they look like this USA_New_Hampshire_83_NQ_2012.Q3_121105.fbl. Maybe I didn't have to rename them? Thought I did. I will try adding some others as they are and see?

No sound at all. The radio SD card has a lot of hidden TTS files. Do you think I need them to make it work? Remember, this is a car radio not a handheld device with a built in speaker. It has to be able to over-ride the radio and lower it's volume and then play the GPS sounds over the speakers.

I will delete those vehicle files. Thanks.

The content files can be named anything, just as long as the file extension is correct, they have an internal name which iGO will display instead.

Make sure the volume levels are at maximum and any mute options are disabled first, iGO will produce sound without any TTS files.

Ok. I used them as is without changing the names and they worked ok. Funny how they won't work on my radio SD card though. Seems to be some kind of license issue preventing it. Means it will cost me $70 for the maps and $10 for the POI's. :(

Fatboyfun wrote:Make sure the volume levels are at maximum and any mute options are disabled first, iGO will produce sound without any TTS files.

Sound is on in the program but nothing happens when a sound should come on. There is a red line through the speaker on the map screen( that whole area is faint/blacked out almost )just like on the 8.3.4 version I have. I am wondering if it needs something else to tell it how to over-ride the radio when the GPS needs to talk?

FWIW I went through every file on the radio's SD card and then on chas521's version and looked for things the radio had the other didn't for audio/tts. Added what was not on his but it made no change.There were a couple things in the DATA.zip but can't just add them and haven't tried swapping the whole thing.

It is usable as is but I would really like to have the sound. I don't want people to have to work so hard to get this the way it took to make iGO work though. May not even be possible. I see where for some others it isn't on car radios.

Sat Apr 20, 2013 11:58 pm

Probably doesn't need to be asked but what version of WinCE do you have on your device[s]? Also, why are you talking about having to buy maps/POIs? Isn't my program showing up on your screen? It's a cracked program so future content can be gotten here for free or am I missing something?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you say that the navigation sound didn't occur even with the SD card that came with your device - even non-TTS voices? Is it possible that your device is defective or was installed improperly?

Also, what happens if you put that "devinfo" file on the card?

Sun Apr 21, 2013 8:49 am

That is a txt file, I doubt much will happen, but one never knows. It depends on what is in it. Could be important information or not, but then iGO won't do anything with it. The device might.
However, am I right that the original SD has two exe.files, one called igo.exe and one called navigation.exe?
Just an idea, but on your working Navitotal igo SD, rename navigation.exe to igo.exe (watch the spelling that it is identical to the old SD) and copy the original navigation.exe (plus devinfo.txt??) on that SD and try. It may be possible that navigation.exe makes some settings first (like sound) and then starts igo.exe. (similar like on Medions)

A very basic remark but often true: make sure the volume is on in the iGO program and the volume is on (hardware/software !!) on the device. When for some reason (like accidental) set to off or zero) you will get no sound.

About maps.
You can go on buying maps and POI but you must always do that using the original SD. You will never obtain new maps when the original is not identfied by NavNGo.
When you do this, you will not only get new maps/POI, but a new license as well. That license can only be used by the original program using original/legally obtained maps/POI. It's possible those new maps won't work on your Navitotal iGO, because of that license matter.
The alternative is to come here and get maps and POI for free.

That looks like iGO is muted, can you tap on it?

I will reply to all of you( chas521/nabi/Fatboyfun ) here in one response vs 3 seperate...

chas521;

  • WinCE version. I am not 100% sure because I can not find the info to verify for you now but I think it is WinCE6. I am about 95% sure I saw that about this head unit before, somewhere, but can't find it now so can't be positive.
  • Sound. No, sound works perfectly fine with the radio SD cards running 8.3.5.151770. It didn't work with the 8.3.4 version the seller sent to use( not specific for this radio - more like a cracked version I get here )until they came up with a fix for the problems I was having as the 8.3.4 didn't freeze. Sound did not work though. Sound has only worked on the 2 SD cards specific to the radio.
  • Devinfo. I have not tried adding this to the SD card at this point. I believe it was talked about and then backed off as it appears to have reference to the SD card serial number?

nabi;

  • .Exe Files. Yes, there is an igo.exe file and a navigation.exe file on the SD cards that come with the radio. I was thinking along the lines of what you suggest about needing the navigation.exe and igo.exe files. I can try it. As per above though I wonder about the devinfo.txt file and if it will cause issues as it seems to be tied to the serial card number( or some number ). Also, it goes outside the main folder not in it on the radio SD cards. So when the SD card is opened on a computer you see the navigation folder( IGO8 for most of you )and then devinfo.txt next to it.

  • Sound. In the 8.3.4 and Navitotal programs( igo menu when it is running )sound is enabled. Everything is turned on to my knowledge. As far as sys.txt I believe it is on as well.
  • Maps/POI's. I figured they would be license specific. I know I can get maps here to use with the Navitotal IGO SD card( that is what I did )but I want to update the maps and POI's on the radio SD card as they are outdated and sound works on the radio SD card. I am supposed to get an initial update of all the latest maps/POI's with the radio. That worked with the 1st SD card( there is a guarantee file in the license folder )but the replacement does not have it( and it doesn't recognize the old one if I try that ). I am seeing if the seller can do something about that for me.

Fatboyfun;

Yes, I agree it looks muted( the 8.3.4 version appears the same way ). Tapping on it does not work/do anything.

Couple notes here...

1 - on the SD card specific to the radio it does not have some of the things these other versions do in the menu. It seems to be an altered version of IGO8 for a car radio( no battery meter - just gps signal meter ). It has no track log option, no device settings option, no gps settings option, and I don't think it has a sound settings option either( may - I will double check ). I wonder if only this altered version of IGO8 will allow sound?

2 - the sys.txt with it is almost nill. This is all the sys.txt file for the radio card has in it...

[device]
type="sn_6205"
sdcard_dsk_num = 2
sdcard_name="SD"

3 - I will post the devinfo.txt here for you to see what is in it. Maybe it will explain something to some of you? The 8.3.4 version they sent does not have a devinfo file.

I would try putting that devinfo file on the card and see what happens. It won't hurt anything. It may be a good idea to delete your old save folder as well. This file is your options chosen in the program and it may just override. Just know that after adding the devinfo you have to completely shutdown your device, wait a few seconds and then re-start.

Just want you to clarify something. Does my program show up on your screen and can you navigate with it? You're just not getting sound. What does the radio needing maps/pois have to do with anything?

Sun Apr 21, 2013 1:39 pm

If that didn't work, you might try this if you haven't already. Make a back up of my sys.txt first, then delete it entirely. Go to the SD card that came with your device and the program in which the sound was working properly, copy that sys.txt to your computer and then copy it back to my program. On the SD card that contains my program make sure that the devinfo file is also there. Try using it this way. You might have to delete the save folder from my card again before you re-start. A new save folder will be created.

My device is a car radio so it shuts down on it's own every time the vehicle is powered off. I always exit IGO before shutting off the car anyway but it powers off, because the radio powers off, every time the vehicle is shut off. I have to shut it down to pull the SD card so I can come back inside to make changes each time so it is always shut off between tests. You don't have to tell me that all the time( just to save you some typing - not meant nasty ).

I will try the devinfo file and see.

Your program loads and I can enter and start a route. I haven't actually driven with it running yet but yes it seems to work ok. POI's work too. It appears that all that is not working is sound which is the issue with the 8.3.4 SD card I have as well. I want sound to work.

Maps have a lot to do with things. #1 I can't navigate without them as you well know. #2 I travel a lot with my elderly Dad who is ill and I need up to date maps and POI's in case I need to find an ER quick.

As far as discussing the ones on the radio it tied into this thread at various points because I didn't know they were licensed and I tried to use the ones off my radio SD card with the Navitotal one and then realized I couldn't. I know now I can get maps and POI's here for the Navitotal SD card but not for my radiio SD card.

If sound doesn't work on the Navitotal SD card though it won't be my main card so I will need to pay for maps and POI's for the radio SD card. It was basically me ranting that I got screwed out of my latest map guarantee with this replacement SD card they sent.

Sun Apr 21, 2013 1:56 pm

Don't concern yourself that I'm doing typing. I just want to cover all the bases. Believe me, I'm as frustrated as you are. We HAVE to get this right. It's now our duty!

The maps from here are fine you say. Good. They should be. You're just not getting any sound from my program. The radio needs it's own SD card with maps to get sound? Is that what you're saying?

EDIT: Another thought just now. When you first start my program, you have to choose certain options to get it going. Language and such. Choosing a voice in the "regional" setting can take a good 15 seconds or more until you hear the greeting announcement such as "Have a nice trip." Have you tried running a simulated trip and see if you get voice?

UPDATE:

I have tried some of the things suggested but still no sound( chas521 - I actually set a route and drove down the street and no sound - even swung around so it had to recalculate and nothing ).

1st - I added devinfo.txt to the SD card in the same place it is on the radio SD card( outside the IGO/navigation folder )and ran a test. chas521's program loaded normally and worked ok just no sound.

2nd - I changed the name of navigation.exe( igo8.exe )to igo.exe like it is on the radio SD card and then added that other navigation.exe program from the radio SD card per nabi's post and ran a test. chas521's program loaded and worked ok just no sound.

3rd - I knew this wouldn't work but what the hell at this point. I tried using the radio SD card igo.exe in place of chas521's. It started to load( the load screen appeared )and for a brief moment I thought maybe by some miracle it was going to work but it auto shut down after just a few seconds at INIT. I assume that is where it saw the license/SD card serial # issues. I knew this wouldn't work either but again what the hell. I tried adding the license off my radio SD card to see. Same thing. Starts to load and then shuts down at INIT. OOh well, what can you do with newbies right? :rofl_mini:

So still no go on sound. I am starting to think it may be tied into the IGO.exe file itself. It definitely is not the same as the ones from here and that 8.3.4 version. Those all seem to be for a handheld/stand alone type of device with a built in speaker The radio SD card appears to be modified for car radio use where it will mute the volume and then send sound over the vehicle's speakers.

Physcial appearance of the programs is the same but the radio SD card has fewer options in the settings menu. There is NO sound option in the menu under settings. I verified that just now. The 1st menu screen is the same between the versions but on my radio SD card when you hit settings you have a lot fewer options to work with.

Do we think sound is not going to work on this? I hate to waste people's time.

Thank you to evryone who has helped. It is truly appreciated.
