That is where I got the ones I talked about but when you try and extract part2 it fails due to a problem it says with the file? Downloading is only part of it as they are .rar files so you need to be able to extract the files to use them. That is where it is failing( for me anyway ).

@gsthunder

I just downloaded both parts from upl.me and extracted them to my computer and it worked 110%.

You ARE using "Winrar" and not some other unzipping program - right? See post #6.

@gsthunder
I've combined the 2 parts to 1 full rar file. Here is a link to download it:

Hope it will work for you this way.

Just saying, because the unzip/unrar part by part is a common user fault.

Unrarring/Unzipping a single file that is downloaded in parts is done best like this:
1. make a folder on your PC and put all parts in it.
2. Unzip/Unrar part 1.
3. There is no 3. When all is well, part1 should link to part 2 that unzips/unrars automatically and should link to part 3 etc. Winzip, 7zip; Winrar, ... will do all parts though it is not always clear when they are busy.

Ok, I had another program that did .rar files. So I grabbed WINRAR from chas521's link and have used it now. I downloaded the 1 piece .rar from filesupload100 and have extracted it to a file on my desktop. Have done what I can to this point. I see some potential issues however I want to post about before proceeding any further( before I can actually ).

Steps I have done so far I believe to be correct...

1 - have created a folder and titled it navigation like my radio needs vs calling it IGO8. Everything has been extracted into there.

2 - have copied the NH map and POI's only to this point into their respective folders.

3 - renamed IGO8.exe to IGO.exe per chas521's directions to match what my radio looks for.

I am now finding some issues trying to go further...

1 - the SD card that comes with these radios has another file on it besides all of the stuff in the navigation folder( see post #13 above for screen shots ). It is called devinfo and I believe it has to be there for my radio to access the the nav software. Upon opening it though it looks like it is tied to the SD card serial number if I am reading it right? Here is the file info from the new SD card they sent. I still have copies of the original SD card files and they give different numbers so again it appears to be tied to the SD card. What do I do with this file as I am sure I need it for things to work?...

2 - as far as editing the sys.txt file. I assume you mean the one that is on the 1st page that opens when you open up the IGO/navigation folder( see photo #13 above ). On chas521's version his sys.txt file is there and quite long. On mine it is there but very short. The only long one I see on mine is under SAVE. I don't see anything on mine about the screen resolution in any place? Am I looking in the wrong place for this file? I can't find a sys.txt file to compare to chas521's to make any required changes specific to my radio? Mine only has the following info...

[device]
type="sn_6205"
sdcard_dsk_num = 2
sdcard_name="SD"

3 - on the main page when you open the IGO/navigation folder I have an application file called Navigation( again see photo #13 above ). I do not see this application file on chas521's. I assume I need it.

4 - There is no SAVE folder that I see on chas521's program files to delete?

5 - On chas521's program there is a phoneme folder. I don't have that on mine. What is it and do I need it?

I am sorry to be such a pain but I just have never done this before. I am trying to do what you all say to do but my SD card nav system while similar seems to be a bit different than what you guys are used to.

Thanks for doing this. It could only help others. Just a question or two before I share it on my thread. 1. Why is the size somewhat different from my original? 2. Which upload host did you originally get it from? 3. What happened to the content/car contents?

Let's try to take these questions one by one. What I can see is that my program is still on your computer and not the SD card as yet? Put it on your SD card and try the card in your device.

1. You may not need that file. Try the SD card first without it and see what happens. It won't hurt the device. If it doesn't work correctly, you may need to add it.
2. Add the device information to MY sys.txt plus the resolution entries for 800_480 found in the link to my program edit4.
3. My program is a cracked version that might be different from the real one. Always try mine without stuff from the real one first.
4. There will be no save folder on mine until you start/end the program. The save folder is created after the first time.
5. Phoneme files are phonetic files for languages.

You are not a PITA!

Ok "BUT" the number referenced in the devinfo file is different on this new card vs the original which is why I think it is tied to the card itself. Do I need to get the number off the SD card I want to use and edit the devinfo or something?

This is the line that has different #'s between the 2 SD cards I was given for this radio( may be more lines - I am going to double check )...

IOCTL_DISK_GET_STORAGEID read: 030331B37F

Where/how do I add the devinfo info to your sys.txt? Is it in addition to or in place of and where as fara s location should I add it if it is in addition to?

I feel like a pain! I am very computer literate but this is all new to me.

YOU ARE NOT A PITA!!!! You just have normal concerns. Navitotal is here to try and support you if we can. Remember, your device is not in front of us so you have to do the work [and with your head].

Open up my sys.txt. It should open up in Notepad. Add ALL the entries that I instructed you to do and then save the application before exiting it.

You may not need that deviceinfo file but then again you may need it. Try without it first.

1. I've noticed the size difference. I guess that the compression formula will built different total file sizes when it splits them or when it is in one big file. Can it be depend on the winrar version and which versions of compression it uses?
2. 99.9% that it was upl.me
3. I don't remember that I did any change (content/car) in your original part1 & part2 before combine them.

I will be more convinced after checking the source files in the morning. Will update this post.

I owe you an apology and a beer. I could have sworn that the program had vehicle files in content\car. I just checked my library disk regarding the program and content\car WAS empty. I guess that I can screw things up with the best of them. The only thing is the difference in size. If you can safely say that your upload is DIRECTLY from mine with NO edits by you, then I will add it to my iGO8 thread. Fair?

What about my PM to you earlier?

Ok I have worked on this but it doesn't seem to be working. I end up with a screen that says LOADING with an iGO MyWay logo across the loading text and it just sits there when I try and get it to open in my radio. If I hit the NAV key it produces an error. If I hit the SD card key it gives me the screen I mention above( loading )and then just goes no where.

Here is some info that may or may not help...

1 - I have another version of iGO8( 8.3.4.##### )on an SD card that the radio seller sent me while they tried to find out what was going on with the SD card that came with the radio. This is from either a PDA or some type of handheld GPS device. It is not specifically for my radio but it does work. It does NOT have that devinfo file like the SD card that came with the radio does so that is clearly not needed( I assume ). Here is the sys.txt file info from it FWIW...

I have tried a few things but nothing seems to work. I have tried...

A - renaming the iGO8.exe to iGO, igo( this is how it is spelled on the SD cards for the radio ), and navigation( like the handheld older iGO8 that works is spelled ).

B - have added the license from the working SD cards

C - on the 1st line of chas521's sys.txt is the following line...

[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

I have tried it as is and also changing iGO8 to navigation which is the name of the folder the files are in( that is the name on the 3 working SD cards I have so figure it needs to be that and not iGO8 ).

Not sure where to go from here? I do think chas521's version will work after looking closer at that older handheld version theys ent. Just need to figure out what tweaks it needs I guess.

If it helps here is a screen shot of that 8.3.4 SD card...

I probably don't even need chas521's version now seeing as I have that 8.3.4 as a backup( sound doesn't work though )and the new SD card they sent is working right( they did fix the freezing issue when off the road ). HOWEVER this has become a challenge I want to win so I would like to make this work if I can.

Thank you all for the help and patience.

Just dropping in, and sorry for not reading all yet, but it looks like the program is called navigation.exe. (no capitals)
Did you try that?

OK, I see a possibility.

This: [folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8" needs to be changed from iGO8 to Navigation [the name of the folder on your SD card. Sometimes removing the % signs help also.

Is your device a PDA or PNA?
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.
