Not recording trip log

Not recording trip log

Postby terzer » Fri Jan 07, 2011 5:08 am

Hello,
l have interesting problem. l always use the trip recorder, however recently l saw that my Primo with GJA 2.24 skin doesn't record most of my trips. Some are OK, some are corrupted (0km travel, 0km speed...) and only few l can see on the map. What is going on? Do l have to manually start and end (and save from the menu) every time the record? Because l activated the auto recording, but clearly there is a problem. (l have free space in my SD). l don't have any line in the SYS.txt, which can alter the recording settings.
l'm not shutting down the Primo from the exit button, l pull the key from the car and the nav shut downs on its own. Could this cause the corrupted and unpredictable (some recorded, some corrupted) trip logs? Does it record only the navigated trips? Can l record all (also non navigated, free drive) trips?
Since Amigo the trip logs are very complicated, l don't clearly understand them... l want every time when l start the motor and the nav in my car, the trip to be recorded, no matter with plotted route or free roam.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks!

Interesting problem, even I don't see any practical use for the trip recorder (my wife might :lol:)

Maybe the corrupted logs are not saved because the device closes to quickly (power off) before saving is ended? Have you not noticed yourself what trips are recorded, what not and how you closed down? Nothing obvious? Then try shutting down not immediately.
Not sure if this helps but I hope these sys.txt lines not automatically shut down the device but wait for you to shut down using the exit button and hopefully, such ending the write process of the trip file.

[power]
skip_suspend_process_all=1 ;getsysentry

l use trip recorder, because it handy to view long trips (speed and so on). It's a little geeky.... :D
l always pull the key out, l never shut the primo from the button, still some trip logs are ok. So there is something more than that.
But l agree this might the problem.
l will try this line and report!
Thanks!

p.s. l use the trip computer window, which shows me how many km and the time of the current trip (which l like). However the next time l start the car, sometimes the trip window is resetted (to 0), sometimes its not.

If you don't shutdown the device properly a save folder cannot be properly created. By shutting down the way that you do, you are interrupting the process. Isn't there something about save logs? Incidentally, a trip recorder could be a good thing when you know the information for tax reasons.

But sometimes the trip is saved. There is something strange. Or the auto save is on a random basis.

Or sometimes when you plug-in a TV it works perfectly and sometimes it might not.

LOL, strange comparison.
Terzer, it's not only the trip data that need to be written to the card. The file must be closed, the FAT file changed, the SD card must be closed.
A better way to explain is maybe this: Attach a SD card (or an external drive) onto your computer and copy a file. When you disconnect to rapidly, data is lost. Right? The same here.

@Nabi

Point was that sometimes when you do things right or wrong, it works just fine. Other times, not! It's hard to explain why. All we can do is try the right way and keep our fingers crossed.

Hmm, as you know, I do not use it. So be gentle :D
The other logs show trip log etc? In other words, is it part of the saved data in Primo or do you have to choose what should be saved?

Have you tried waiting 30 secs or so after your journey is finished before turning off your device just to let any write operations finish?

No, this time l manually saved the trip. Some other trips have speed and evaluation graphs. They have another icon (Gps cursor in their icon).

You said you are using GJ2.24 skin now. And before? No skin, previous GJ version? Other skin?
When did the trip recorder stop logging?
Please check the settings from trip recorder and shut down.

l started using Igo Primo when l installed the 2 din nav in my car. Before that l used Igo 8 with dimka skin and l never had such problem (l used it on my HTC phone)
l'm using GJA 2.24 skin, 2.23 before that and 2.22 before that. With every skin l have this problem.
