Use poi edit to convert them to .kml and place them in ..\content\userdata\poi\

You won't need the bitmap images as igo uses internal icons.

Thanks for the reply, done that and they are now visible in the "show on map" settings for places. However it does not let me navigate to them. The poi's I am using are call points from my old Tomtom. Is it possible to import the poi's into favourites?

You can navigate to places...

Find places -> Custom search -> Around here/In a town -> Scroll down to your POI category -> Choose POI
Currently sleeping...

Thanks for the assistance, have now got it sorted. I created a folder within the "content" folder named "Userdata".
Inside the "Userdata" folder I created a further 2 folders named "poi" and "usericon". The kml files were put into the "poi" folder and the icon's into the "Usericon" folder. I now get both the poi and custom icons showing on the map.

Thanks for the update, on the find places screen if you tap "User Quick Searches" in the bottom right then tap and hold on one of the four buttons on the right you can set up quick searches which cuts down the amount of screen taps to find your local poi's considerably...
