POI Icon colours "inverted"

Postby k1w1_123 » Mon May 27, 2019 9:29 am

Hi,

I'm having some difficulty with poi icons created using the UPOI Editor utility and wonder if perhaps somebody here knows the solution...

Device is an 800x480 noname Chinese WinCE model running Primo 2.4 v.9.6.13.405512.

An example of the problem is a simple black and white icon. If I search Find/Find Places/etc, the logo displays in the list as black on a white background (as it does in the icon strip generated by UPOI Editor, but on the navigation screen it is white on a black background. This isn't too bad but the coloured icons seem to change colour at random, with red usually rendering as yellow or white,or a mixture of both.

I have tried saving the icon stripes as nng bitmaps but it made no difference.

Any suggestion appreciated

Bonjour,

Thanks for your interest.

I tried to put up some pictures but simply could not work out how to do it!

In any case I have solved the problem... Its not very well documented but I found a footnote in a discussion on another forum which suggested iGO requires poi bmp files to be in "24-bit RGB" format. For some reason the icon files saved by UPOI Editor were in "30-bit RGBA" format. I really don't understand what these terms mean but I found a programme called Pixelformer which would convert the icons stripes from 30-bit to 24-bit and voila, the problem was solved.

I hope this helps any others who happen upon this thread.
