To Present myself and a question

Postby SlowFox1 » Thu Sep 26, 2013 2:12 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm SlowFox1 and currently living in France.
I'm revive two old Mio P350 & Mio P360.

I have hard resetted both MIO's. This mean a factory reset. To have a clean startup.

On the TPB I have found the following two torrents:

[Please Register or Login to download file] & [Please Register or Login to download file]

Let's call the first one BASE and the second NEW MAPS.

I have installed with no issue the BASE with the older maps on my Mio P360. It works like a charm. Like in the instructions of the BASE (1. copy to SD folder 2577 & iGO8, 2. soft reset, 3. install). I have copied the maps from the BASE verion to the SD and it works, BUT.....

Now in the NEW MAPS there are MAPS form Q1 2013. When I copy them on the SD Card, the NEW MAPS are not visible. I have tried the following.

[LIST=1]
Renamed NEW MAPS from the long name to just {landname}.fbl
Renamed NEW MAPS them from the long name with an extra 8 in the name as in the BASE

Nothing helped.

Is there a way to update the maps in the BASE version with the NEW MAPS version?

All help is appreciated....

Thanks in advance

Your post has been moved here from chit-chat since you are talking about WinCE devices. If you had downloaded and installed the igo programs from here, you would then be able to update your content. I don't know anything about the Pirate Bay programs so we cannot offer support. Sorry.

That is perfectly understandable. It was worth the shot. Thanks anyway.

I found the NaviTotal.com site by accident also on TPB: [Please Register or Login to download file]

I have tried also this version but, I wasn't able to get it started. I have followed the instructions included in the text file, that is why I downloaded the other torrents.

Could you please point me to the threads I must read and the the threads I must download, to get the latest version of the maps running on either of the Mio's

Thanks in advance...

You need to unlock first in order to use other navs.

P350 unlock - http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?8816-Mio-3.3-unlock-modified-for-use-w-Primo2
Nav program - http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-16-2011
In the program's sys.txt, change the resolution numbers from 480_272 to 320_240 and save.

P360: You can try the same as above or you can change the program now on your internal to above.

Thanks again for your help

Both Mio P350 ([Please Register or Login to download file] ) and P360 ([Please Register or Login to download file] ) are PDA's, they also need an unlock? Ok I will try that...

Thanks....

PDA's don't need an unlock at all. I know, I had several ;)

You possibly can run Primo (from Yurbuh's torrent) on your Mio's but I don't recommend it. I had a previous version Primo on my P360, it worked, but that is the best I can say about it. The available memory is not ideal, nor is the screen resolution.
I do recommend iGO8.3.5 however, especially in landscape mode. But forget TTS. It may work, but ....

Hello Nabi,

Thank you for your answer.
I have searched a bit on the NaviTotal site and found some older Mio P3x0 instructions:

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?13450-i-have-an-old-mio-p350-how-can-i-add-european-maps&highlight=p350

I'm collecting the data (Downloading) and compiling a small howto (for myself)..

Where can I find the iGo 8.3.5 version you are talking about?

Thanks in advance...

Here are some :

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-16-2011 (prepared by Chas521 to his likings, you don't need the TTS)

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?11942-iGO-8.3.5.231128-NavOn

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?14246-iGO-8.3.5.231128-NavOn-full-w-poi-building-2013.q1-USA-Maps (BIG download, due to the USA content, so if you are not living there, don't use this one)

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?13684-iGO-8.3.5.220904-ASL

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?7048-iGO-8.3.5.193799-27th-May-2011

Which download is alive or dead, I did not check. (PM the uploader to renew his upload when your chosen link is dead)
There isn't much difference between the version numbers anyhow, so which build number you download don't matter, you really won't notice the difference unless in the "about" screen. After "installation" (unrar - copy - paste) iGO may need some tweaks and adding content.

That link you name (http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?13450-i-have-an-old-mio-p350-how-can-i-add-european-maps&highlight=p350) does give some tips.
I have another one : add to sys.txt at the beginning :

(for the 350)

[device]
type=”miop550”

(for the 360)

[device]
type=”miop560”

Good News and Bad News

Postby SlowFox1 » Sun Sep 29, 2013 4:45 pm

Well, here is a update from my side...

I have used the March 2011 as a BASE and it started to work.
I would like to change a couple of things, but that is for later.

I have done the following:

1. Download from the link nabi provided. That is the March 2011 version
2. Minimized full program, following instructions from the link

To minimize:
1. Delete the TTS_LOQ folder
2. There are 5.dlls. You're gonna delete 4 of them but not gpstmc.dll
3. Delete all the TTS voices from content\voice leaving only the non-TTS voices
4. Include your content to the appropriate content folders
5. Delete all dem and building files from your content
5. Reduce the area or delete the speedcam files
6. Reduce the map and poi area.

3. Unziped 320_240 folder from data.zip and saved it in the ui_igo8 folder
4. Modified sys.txt:
5. sys.txt at the beginning :

(for the 350)

[device]
type=”miop550”

(for the 360)

[device]
type=”miop560”

[interface]
resolution_dir="320_240"

[rawdisplay]
highres=0
screen_x=320
screen_y=240
class="landscape"

First test it Runs

The BAD news....

When I add a MAP from a Q1 2013 torrent I get the following error:

Fatal Error occure in main thread

Address: 0x0054c4c0
Exception: 0x0000005

I have not tested with older MAPS.... My fault...

EDIT:

I have tested it with 2008 MAPS and it works...

Where can I find the lastest MAPS for EUrope (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg)

EDIT2:

It works, no errors, but no MAPS to choose from. I have only uploaded FRANCE for testing into the content...

When I want to search, I cannot select FRANCE...

Thanks!

Could you mean this destination : http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?910-How-to-install-iGO8-from-scratch ?
The link you copied is incomplete, could be copied as is in the post, but we don't know where you found it, so we cannot correct it there

I believe it should be named the \content\map folder, no "s" (maps)at the end.
