Primo on C-320 internal flash

Primo on C-320 internal flash

Postby dannyu » Tue Aug 31, 2010 7:50 am

Hi,

recently I replaced the MIOMAP I was using on my unlocked C-320 with the latest PRIMO.
I've installed it on a SD card, left the MIOMAP in the internal flash, used chas521 method to activate
the SD apps and both are running smoothly.

Now I tried to remove the MIOMAP folder from the internal flash and replace it with the PRIMO
folder. I edited all the nessesary scripts to the correct path but it doesn't work.
It seems like there a definition somewhere which directs the IGO.EXE to look for all the relevant
components in the SD path and not locally (i.e. in the internal flash).
The IGO.EXE displays an error saying that some of the components couldn't be found, check the path
etc.

One other issue: assuming there is a solution to my question - how can I extend my number of maps by putting only the maps
on the SD card (like was done with MIOMAP) on a special folder?

Has anyone of the forum members tried (or even succedded) doing this?
Any tip which can direct me to overcome this would be appriciated (I'll need to do the same on a
C-310X as well).

Thanks,
Danny

I think the best solution is to change your path in sys.txt
Possible lines are:

[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8_PRIMO" ; change this if applicable
data="/Storage Card/iGO8_PRIMO" ;
content="/Storage card/igo8/CONTENT"
kmlpoi="userdata\poi" ;"content\userdata\poi"
kmlroute="userdata\route" ;"content\userdata\route"
;user_car="mycars"
tts_nua_v5="\Storage Card\igo8_primo\tts_nua_v5"
tts_loq="\Storage Card\IGO8\TTS_LOQ" ;needs loqmsx.dll LoqTTS6.dll LoqTTS6_util.dll LoqDutch6.5.dll
has_secondary_root=0 ; do not search for other igo8 distributions

It needs no further explanation that the path should be correct and the name of the internal drive and sd card as well.

Let us know if you succeeded and how.

Thank you, Nabi.

To begin with I don't have any of these lines in my SYS.TXT file (and obviuosly it's working flawllessly).
I tried adding the [FOLDERS] section to the SYS.TXT file, but the problem still remains.
I also deleted any content on the SAVE folder, without any success either.

It seems to be something else which tells the application that all data is to be found in STORAGE CARD/.....

by the way:
if I put the SD card inside and only change the icon's command (in CHAS521 launchpad) path from MY FLASH DISK/PRIMO/IGO.EXE to STORAGE CARD/PRIMO/IGO.EXE then all is OK.

also note:
How does the original MIOMAP (which runs from the internal flash) knows how to do it with no specific definition in SYS.TXT file?

Thanks,
Danny

You have to edit the mainshell.xml and mainshell.ini using notepad or other editors.
Edit the path of Primo and the exe in the both files.
Remember to edit the "STR" name too.

I use only this line in the sys.txt:
sdcardpath="\\SDMMC\\"
On the SD-Card I have the folder "igo" and here the folder "content with the subfolders for maps, pois, buildings etc. For me this works 100%.

Thanks, Peacher

Where are these files located? are they a part of one of the ZIP files in the PRIMO files?
or maybe a part of the other C-320 system files?

Thanks,
Danny

This is Mio system files -
Find it program files
There is a directory "mainshell"
open directory - you will locate the 2 files.
edit the paths to the exe file, modify the name of "STR" file
If you just installing one navigation software - advise that you use internal flash.
backup this 2 files before you edit - just in case you make any mistakes

PS Mio system "MUI" recognise sdcard as storage card not sdmmc or other

Thanks, NB

I have the same and it's working fine.
What I want to do is to move the PRIMO folder to the internal flash + have extra maps on the SD (something like
US maps on the internal flash + Eruope maps on the SD card).

This configuration worked with MIOMAP and there is no reason why it won't work with PRIMO.

Thanks,
Danny

I checked my program files directory and it's empty, no files at all.
It's the original structure I got with the C-320, so I guess it wasn't there from day one (I haven't touched it).

I thought that PRIMO definitions are all included within the application files regardless where it resides.
Obviously if the application is moved then a change of spme paths should be required, and that's it.
I guess there is more to it.
So for now I can't continue with your suggestion.

Thanks,
Danny

Since iGo and Primo basically don't differ that much, I think you could find some inspiration here

I did that (show all system hidden files+ file extentions) by using the WINCE explorer, and it's still empty except ine file (desktop.ini)

there must be another way.

You connect it to the computer - not using your unit explorer
Is this clear. If you know how to alter the mio system files dos.
You can load up to any account of software as you want till your sd card can hold.
There is no need for any unlock programs - when it bricks you cry.

One simple question - how does your unit works without a OS.

I believe I did just that when using CHAS521 lounchpad + copying the files via the USB port.
I'll try doing that as suggested in the link you mentioned and report back.
