Primo 2 and handsfree calling.

Primo 2 and handsfree calling.

Postby bangerdemon » Thu May 31, 2012 5:51 pm

Hi,

I hope somebody can help me.

I have a chinese no name device running Primo 2 with the Dimka WA P.1.5.3 skin.

The device has bluetooth, and is paired to my phone, but as yet I have not been able to find a way of making a call without exiting Primo and going into the menu, other than picking the phone up to dial the required number. Is there any way of getting something on the quick menu to enable me to easily make a call?

I do have bluetooth and external programmes options, but when I scan for programmes, nothing suitable seems to come up!!

Many thanks in advance.

What is the name of the program (*.exe) that starts the device Bluetooth program....and what is the path to it?
Typically (which may or may not be typical to your device), there will be a folder on the device internal memory such as 'Bluetooth' with an exe such as BT.exe, anwdog.exe, phonelink.exe, or something similar. One of these may start the bluetooth, and when you find out which one, you can add the path to the external programs manually without scanning to {Primo}\Save\Profiles\01(or some other number)\userlists\user_program_list.txt.

For instance, mine is
Code: Select all
PhoneLink;\\My Flash Disk\\Bluetooth\\PhoneLink.exe;;0

This is any name you want.
This is the exact path.
All punctuation and "0" at the end is significant.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

How would I find out the .exe file or the path?

This item [Please Register or Login to download file] is the same, and when I start the device I get the menu as shown in the listings picture.

There is a BT folder on the memory card, but no .exe file in it!!

You need to determine what that Bluetooth button in the menu is referencing...the path.
It is somewhere on the device, for sure.
There may be a menu.ini or something similar to look at.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Just went into WinCE 6 and couldn't find anything like that.

Resident flash is showing as 18KB used and 10.2MB free, so dont think it will be on there.

Alan

While in WinCE,

Clicked on start, RUN, and browse. Looked for all the suggested .exe files above, and nothing was found!!

It might be on ResidentFlash2 (or Resident Flash2).
While on wince, using windows explorer or CECMD, go to : ResidentFlash2.
Please note, ResidentFlash2 might be hidden, go to ResidentFlash first and then type 2 after ResidentFlash and press enter.

Well, I found it, changed the path following YT's instructions in post 2, and it altered the skin, and bluetooth and external programs disappeared!!!

Now I cant get the Dimka skin to work properly, even after reinstalling the backup!!

Thanks anyway for your help.

??
What did you do exactly?
All you should have done (maybe I was not clear enough), was edit the text file (with notepad) in {Primo}\Save\Profiles\01(or some other number)\userlists\user_program_list.txt.
This would not impact the skin in the way you described. If you did something else, delete the entire Save folder and start over. Then go in and re-enable the skin, make any other adjustments you like, and see if you can do it again (edit the text file).

So what did you determine the path to the bluetooth EXE to be?
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I found the path to be ResidentFlash2\APP\BT\BlueZMW.exe

I added the line Phone;\\ResidentFlash2\\APP\\BT\\BlueZMW.exe;;0 to \Save\Profiles\01\userlists\user_program_list.txt and then when I restarted Primo 2, it had gone back to the default skin, even though the Dimka skin was still showing in Display.

Well nothing looks particularly wrong with what you did!
It should work (as long as ResidentFlash2 should not have any spaces...it could, such as Resident Flash 2 which would affect the path).
Are you back in the diMka skin now?
If not, delete (or backup) the Save folder and start again.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Well it doesnt look as though it will work.

Tried the path with spaces as well and it doesnt do anything.

The line that I add to the text file disappears everytime I restart Primo.

I am back in the Dimka skin now, so will leave it alone while the thing still works.

Thanks anyway.

How odd.
I have edited that text file many times (maybe dozens from version to version) as I always add my External Programs list that way (I never 'scan'...too much to delete) and have never had any of my edits 'disappear'.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe you were trying to edit the file live on the SD Card or device Internal Storage?
That is usually not a good idea...copy/move files to the PC, make your edits, then copy back to the SD Card (or internal storage of device) after deleting the file there first (overwriting a file on memory-storage sometimes will not work well either).
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

When I add it to the bluetooth option in the quick menu, it just goes back to the map screen. When I try to add it to external programs option, it doesnt want to accept it and does nothing no matter how many times I click the path.

Maybe it is because it is in Residentflash2, instead of on the SDMMC card like any of the other .exe files that show up. Maybe I have the totally wrong file (strong possibility), but have tried two files, the first being BlueZMW which shows up as an application extension, and BTSuite which shows up as an application in properties from WinCE!!

That should not matter (my External Programs are ALL on internal storage of the device--not the SD Card), unless your "ResidentFlash2" drive is hidden and perhaps invisible to Primo. You could try copying the entire Bluetooth-related folder to SD Card and see if that makes a difference...though it may not work if not on the same drive as your Windows files. And yes, you still could have the wrong EXE and even the wrong folder...sometimes Bluetooth can be confusing that way.

Resident flash 2 IS hidden, and I havent worked out how to copy any of those files to my PC (I cant see the drive when connected to the device, only the SD card shows)!!
