Primo 2 and TTS files.

Primo 2 and TTS files.

Postby Maurice59200 » Fri Nov 16, 2012 8:39 am

Hello there !
I've a Mio Spirit 689 unlocked and I installed Primo 2 running on WinCE6. Everything is working fine but not the TTS stuff.
I read most of the posts about tts but I didn't find a solution.
I downloaded TTS files from there : http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?11388-Various-LOQ-EU-TTS-voices-engines

(I would have tried Nuance but every links I found are down.)

So I selected the file for my language which is French. So there is a folder named "FreTot". Inside this there is another folder named "loq-fre".
So inside I ve got the 2 TTS voices which go to content → voice . It's done
Then in the "loq-fre" are the 4 ddl and I understood that they go to the root folder of Primo . OK
I created a "tts_loq" folder and i put the files contained in the"french" folder archive : "Bernard" folder ( ridiculus name !! ) juliette folder ( could have been my old aunt name !!) and an *.atm file and the dictionary file.

But I've got two files *.vde, one file *.lde in the archive, I don't know where to put that stuff.

Please somebody could give the places those files are going ? Could I have made a mistake with the tts_loq folder ??

Thanks.

I'm glad you're posting and asking questions. To see how to guide you in using Loquendo voices for Primo, go here and download part 1 http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?5500-November-Primo-1.1-from-my-device You don't need the entire download to see.

Did you download my TTS_LOQ folder from here [in the blue box] http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?912-TTS-voices-and-components You should have. Also in the blue box are the entries you have to make in the sys.txt and the info.ini file [in the voice file]. Make sure that you read the blue box.

Open the TTS_LOQ folder to see where the .vde and .lde files go.

Also for pronunciation download the Phoneme files and copy and paste the French language file into content\lang - do not unzip it.

Hello there ! So downloaded the two files you told me.
Unfortunately the links to Phoneme for french language seems to be down...
I haven't search for new links yet.

But TTS works fine now on my Mio Spirit 689 ! I didn't have to edit the "info" file in the language zip ( In fact I edited it but didn't work so I tried with the original file :dance: )

Thanks a lot !!

The next step for me wiil be to find a way to voice control.

Phoneme link worked fine with no problem from TTS voices and components [Please Register or Login to download file] ??? [color="#FF0000"]Info.ini file in the voice file not language file[/color] when using Primo must be edited to use Loquendo voice.

All versions of Primo past 1.2 theoretically have the ability to use 'voice input/control' like to tell it vocally to "Navigate to home" and even more complex spoken commands. However, the ability is elusive, highly dependent on custom hardware configuration by the GPS manufacturer, and I have yet to see a complete working version in any kind of generic way. Always seems to be some software bits missing. And chances are, Nuance voice engine is required.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Chaz 521 you're right. I'm sorry your links are ok... That's my my mind that have been down yesterday ^^

Ok, there's something quite strange because I didn't edited the info.ini in the voice file and it works. I have to check because I downloaded many files and perhaps I m using a modified voice file from an old version of Primo.

Yurbuh you've quite understood what I meant ( even if there was a few words missing in my sentences !! )
I read many things about this function which seems to be ready to be included in the next versions. Many GPS have a microphone ....so does mine.
I hope it will be released soon because many Iphone apps like SIRI uses it yet. It could be a problem of memory...

@Maurice59200

As long as it's working to your satisfaction. It's just that the entry had to be made [at one time I guess] so the program wouldn't get confused and cause a conflict.

Hello All,

I have a chinese make double din running WinCE 6. iGO primo 2.0 ver 9.6.5.211211 Dec 07 2011 is running smoothly. I am however unable to get the TTS voices to work, having done everything suggested here: http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?9659-iGO-Primo-2.0-Nuance-TTS-Pro-Voices-Torrent and mostly everywhere else on this forum. The TTS Pro option stays greyed out on my menu.

Could something be missing from my sys.txt file? Below is all that is currently in my sys.txt file

[debug]
skip_eula=1
experimental_features=1

[folders]
has_secondary_root=0

[interface]
show_exit=1
extra_settings=1

[other]
demo_enabled=0

[vr]
disabled=1

Thank you.

@ xandriesm:

how much memory is your device? Possibly TTS will never work whatever you try when it's too little to have TTS (128MB advised)

Should be.
Are you sure you have the right voices and DLL's?
