primo cuts out radio randomly

Postby mikec73 » Thu Feb 28, 2013 10:22 pm

Running primo on Pyle pldnv65i. When primo is navigating the radio randomly cuts out sometime for minutes with no nav instruction. Is there a sys.text line that would improve this.igo8 didn't do this and alpine version seems better too. No map button in alpine though.
Thanks

What version of Primo are you using, and check the sound settings for enabled beeps etc, which will give the impression of the radio muting for nothing.

If you have a skin installed check all the settings and sub settings because various sound options are buried within them.

The radio is likely to be reacting to sound Primo is making, can you identify a pattern, such as when approaching/passing a speedcam, on-screen icons?

that what I was thinking but I had tried to turn everything else off except the voice. maybe I am missing a setting. I will try to observe today and see if I can find a correlation. I dont think speedcams are installed in mine.

On Primo 2.0 the large "No left/right turn" icon causes a soft "ding" sound, which isn't controlled by the ding option in the settings, It's still worth going through all the options for more sound controls, especially the alert icons which have their own sound controls, also (with the dimka skin at least) there is another ding sound control in visual guidance.

Ok thanks. Where can I find and turn off these other sounds?. I would have more control with a skin?

The dimka/gja skin gives you more options to play with, however identifying a pattern to the radio muting is what i would do next, Every time the radio mutes look on-screen to see if there are any icons displayed.

I haven't noticed any icons with it yet. I have found the alert settings and changed them to visual only.

no icons with the silence. it will also do extended mutes with voice instruction (gives instruction then stays muted for a minute or so after)

If you mute primo completely does it still cut out?

No mute in quick menu stops problem. And directions. For whatever reason igo8 don't do it. Primo is better though. Returning Pyle soon for another. Maybe problem goes with it.

replaced with 2din china nav. works much better now. loaded same copy of primo on it and it works much better. primo simply talks over the radio rather than muting. and I dont notice any problems with the way it handles it. now if I can figure out how to get voice recognition going!
