Maybe this is not the right place to post these questions, excuse me if its wrong.

Please explain what FDA -Driver Alerts are, and where should they go? I've put them in a FDA folder in Content, but how does IGO find them. What does FDA stand for?
Please explain HNR Defined Routes are, and where should they go. I've got them in Content/HNR. What does HNR stand for?
I understand NT maps can be mingled with TA maps, I've another folder call Map_OT, what is that?
Will the TomTom R3 2011_09_111204.fbl work in a generic IGO which usually runs NT?
Currently, I'm running USA_NNG_2009.09.3dl, but these are out of date compared to the latest European files. Any suggestion on what to switch to?

Glad you got your TMC working!
1) See here:
iGO-Primo-Enhancements.FDA files go in the same folder with the NT map files.
2) "Mingled"? Not in the same folder. "OT" is for "
Other Maps"--such as some for specific local areas that NT and TA do not cover well.
3) Teleatlas was purchased by TomTom some time ago. Recently they made The Big Change and now call all their maps TomTom maps. As long as the map extension is still *.fbl, you can consider them Teleatlas and they will work in iGo-Primo.
4) Building and Landmark (3dl) files are sometimes not updated as often as the main map files. If no newer 3dl files are available for your area, just keep the older files until newer ones come along.

Is it possible to put all of USA, Canada, and Europe into the same MAP folder?
In Building folder, there are for example USA_State_Sanborn_2007.09_070918.3dl, and
USA_State_NNG 2009.09_091022.3dl.
Are both required? Or put another way, why would we need both file types?

1. yes
2. 3dl means a landmarks file, iGO/Primo will always use the newest, which is USA_State_NNG 2009.09_091022.3dl.

POI's: Will NQ POI's such as Albania_83_NQ_2011.Q1_110321, work in Primo?
I have USA and Europe POI's in the same POI folder. The European POI's are NQ, whereas US POI's are NT.
Is there a problem with this?

I wouldn't have thought so with POI's, Maps of neighbouring regions from different providers may not line up exactly at the border and could cause problems though.

You want to use TA [TomTom] POIs for the US. They are MUCH better.
Sun Feb 05, 2012 8:13 pm
I see. I know NT is Navteq, is NQ also Navteq, just different short forms. Since the files with NQ are for Europe, and the NT's are for USA. I don't suppose there will be problem lining up.
In fact, POI's, Buildings, and Maps for Europe are all NQ, and all POI's, Buildings and Maps for USA are NT.
Primo will read both right? Sorry for my novice questions.

Wow, is this place slow today with navigation and posting. However, just know that it's being worked on. You want TA POIs for NA and they should work fine with Navteq maps. You cannot combine maps though.

Just to clarify. I can use NT maps with TA POI's. Can I use NT maps with TA Buildings.
What do you mean exactly I cannot combine the maps?
Sun Feb 05, 2012 10:05 pm
Yes, you can use different building sets. Combine TA maps and NT maps is very tricky because of different reasons. Pick one or more: (a) a little difference in mapcompression makes different file sizes for the same country map, combine that with a map from the other mapmaker and the roads don't combine at the border. (b) same story when there is a little time gap in the starting situation from where off the map is made. This could mean a road is there or not yet. At the border .... (c) when roads for some reason don't adjust exactly at the border, half a meter difference is enough, ..... (d) .... The least that can happen is you can't reach your destination or by driving around for a long long distance. Your iGO/Primo could crash also. Or your device. Feel free to test it yourself ;)
