Primo speedcam problem

Primo speedcam problem

Postby Zeppelin » Wed Jul 20, 2011 8:08 pm

Can anyone help with this problem please?

I`m running Primo 1.1 on a sony 93, I have a speedcam folder that has the .txt file and produces spdb and db file (or update?? anyway there are 3 files inside the speedcam folder). So ok so far.

Trouble is the speedcam only works after a reset.

If I turn off the machine by the red off button or let it turn itself off when the power from the car is switched off, then the next time I turn it on there are no speedcams.

Why!!??

Other info
The speedcam box in the menu is ticked and always remains ticked.
In menu/help/about/contents- after reset the speedcam folder is there but after normal start up- it disappears

Hmmm, strange. Never ever seen this posted before.
Is this a new install or an existing install and it happens only recently?
I am thinking 2 ways:
1. it's about the unlock method
2. something in the iGO files got corrupted. IGO is on sd? Then try a new install from zero on a freshly formatted sd.
Formatting sd cards on PC, I use Panasonics tool 2.0 : [Please Register or Login to download file]
(when you backup and restore the save folder, your settings are back ;) )

No sd card involved.
I´ve had Primo running fine for a few months, but speedcams have not been showing, twas only yesterday I found out that if the unit is reset the speedcams show up. Obviously its a pain to reset every time!

This makes me think the unlock method is responsible for this behavior.
I am no expert in unlocking and really know very little of unlocking. In my opinion, you have two choices : either try an other unlock or live with resetting the device.
Unless someone has a better idea?

Is there a more complete Model number other than just "93"?
Having a hard time finding the specifications of the device (in case that is significant).

OK. Good. Now, could you please post the contents of your sys.txt?
Also, are you using any 3rd party skin(s)? If so, what?

Not using any skins, but do use a `platform´ which detects the gps receiver- this is a link (if needed)
[Please Register or Login to download file]

sys.txt

[interface]
resolution_dir="480_272"
vga=0
shutdown_time=0

[rawdisplay]
class="landscape"
screen_x=480
screen_y=272

[debug]
skip_eula=1
enable_roadshadow=1
usenightmode_tunel="1"

[map]
auto_nightmode=1

[msnd]
msnd.start=0

[power]
backlight_day="95"
backlight_night="60"

[tts]
always_say_road_names=1
announce_street_name=1

[warning]
speedcam_enabled="1"

[sound]
queue_length=200
ding=0

[gps]
port="5"
baud="57600"

Thanks

OK. We're going to try a couple things. The first is to delete the contents of your Save folder--you can back it up somewhere first (in case my advice does nothing, restore it and all your settings will be back). This will require resetting some customizations on the next restart, but is necessary to test my theory.
Now take this out of your sys.txt:

[color="navy"]shutdown_time=0[/color]

And add these in the appropriate sections:

[warning]
speedcam_enabled=1
[color="red"]speedcam_warning=1
speedcam_maxdistance_from_road=10[/color]

[debug]
skip_eula=1
[color="red"]experimental_features=1[/color]

Now restart, set everything how you want, wait for a satellite lock, and go into settings and enable the speedcam warnings as usual (if it is not already set).
Then test on the road (speedcams don't work in simulation) to be sure the speedcams are showing up.
Then test powering down and starting back up and see if the settings stick.

Unfortunately does not seem to have solved the problem.
Looking in menu>more>help>about>more>content on primo, after reset speedcam was in contents but after switching off and back on it was no longer there.

But do the speedcams actually work?

If not, I will continue to do some research.

The speedcam works after a reset but not after a normal start.

Thanks for helping!

After thinking about it for a bit, and checking out a few things--particularly what you called a "platform" which is really a Pez Menu unlock (no problem there, I know that one...but it seems to have some scripting that is specifically for your Sony that looks suspect) I think nabi was correct. Due to some of the scripting, a few processes are run (only upon reset?) and then killed. One or more of them may be required to be run before starting Primo. Every time. It may have something to do with Power On. I am going to request help from somebody here who knows far more about Mortscripting than I will ever know--maybe he can sort it out if we ask him nicely?

Hello---FatboyFun....can you have a look please?
