Primo 2.0 sys.txt

Postby archercj » Fri Jan 06, 2012 8:47 am

I've been using SysConfugurator to tweak setting in SYS.TXT for my Primo 2.0 installation. I did supsect that not all the changes have worked which I put down to a possible difference with the paramaters in 2.0 (and SysConfigurator maybe being for an earlier version of primo as well as Igo 8).

But when I look at the contents of SYS.TXT I notice that some parameters have quotations around the value them i.e. use_all_building_textures="1" whilst others do not i.e planned_route_contour_width=4

Does this make a difference?

Be careful when using SysTextConfigurator. Most people have a tendency to WAY overdo it..and especially for Primo 2, since more than a few things have changed, and some entries may cause more problems than they may solve. Add to this that Primo 2 hardly requires a sys.txt AT ALL to figure things out and function without any help. Almost everything that you may have needed a sys.txt entry for previously is now simply a setting within the program.
For example, here is my entire sys.txt and everything is working (including TMC which previous iGo versions could never figure out on their own):
[debug]
skip_eula=1
experimental_features=1

[interface]
show_exit=1
extra_settings=1
show_tmc_config=1
show_tmc_eventlist=1
show_programs=1

[other]
demo_enabled=0

Usually not, no. Syntax varies and there is no hard and fast rule.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I would advise that if one does make a change it is better being done in the system.ini
e.g. .\Primo2\save\profiles\01
the syntax is the same as you would put in the SYS.TXT however it has the advantage of affecting the current user/profile only.

NOTE: any changes done in the Primo2 UI (or older iGO software) are saved in the system.ini file.
