Out of the blue my Chinese double din unit in my Motorhome has had to find satellites each time I turn it on,and it seems to take an age.Anyone suggest why or anything I could do to rectify it?Thanks in advance.

Might be worth temporarily renaming the save folder, delete the newly created one and rename the old one back if it doesn't fix it.

Also make sure you do the basics. Such as having a clear view of the sky and not moving [stationary] until you get the lock.

Definitely sounds to me as though you're perhaps not getting a clear view of the Sky.

Also check the connection/cable condition of the antenna

I had the similar problem (cannot lock to sattelites for hours) about 5 months ago.
But the unit I have was an android phone.
After send it to the service center, they said that a parts of gps internal antenna had melted.
After being repaired, it works fine for about 2 months, and began to stuck in that same problem again.
So, I given-up using android cellphone for GPS tools, and now I use Win CE GPS unit.
For a cheap price USD 80 (for about 2 times repair cost of my cellphone), it really worth.
So far I'm satisfied with this unit. It only need 30 sec to lock to sattelites.

My motorhome came with a very expensive radio/cassette/CD/satnav setup. I think it had cost well over £2k new, but it wasn't new when I got it.
The GPS didn't work, but worse than that, it put out so much interference that no other GPS in the vehicle would work either. Remove the fuse (switching it off wasn't enough) and a hand-held unit sprung into life.
The problem turned out the be a faulty cable to the GPS antenna. In yours it might just be the plug working loose.
I replaced the whole thing with a £200 Chinese unit - far better performance, though nothing like the build quality.
