Primo 2.0 Triple Icon (ballons)

Primo 2.0 Triple Icon (ballons)

Postby zervdim » Sun Jan 15, 2012 11:10 am

In new Primo 2.0 there are a lot of triple icons (shows in default skin such as 3 blue ballons) in the map if you select more than two directory of each category for example if you select all the gas stations and all the parking.area.

Then you see blue icons in the screen which are such as 3 blue ballons.

As I remember those 3 ballons we had in igo8, but not in Primo 1.2.
In igo8 if we set those in sys.txt:
[poi]
max_poi_on_horizont=5

then we see the maximum of 5 pois in the map.

Also in Primo 1.2 in order to see up to 5 poi icons to the map we had in sys.txt:
[poi]
max_poi_on_horizont=5
use_multi_poi_icon=0 (With this command we don't have Triple icon of pois in Primo 1.2)

I try a lot to find a solution in order to disable the Triple icon (3 ballons of poi) with no success:
I have put a lot of command in sys.txt with no success.
Also I have tried to modify the multi.poi.icon in data.zip but then it gives me a small blue point of each triple icon.

Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a solution to the 3-balloon problem too.
Like zervdim says, the usual sys.txt entry doesn't work with Primo 2.0:

[poi]
use_multi_poi_icon=0

I also want to get rid of the built-in brand icons (McDonald's etc.) and use my own. I can't find the bitmaps for these anywhere in data.zip - are they hidden in the .poi files or somewhere now?

If anyone knows how to turn these brand icons off, please tell me!

Thanks,

Tightend

You should be able to go to the specific POI within Primo (Map Settings...Places...category..may have to drill down a few times...McDonalds, for example) and edit it by tapping on the icon shown and be able to pick any other properly installed icon that exists on the device.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Thanks, but I already tried that.
The icons can't be selected in Map Settings/Place Markers/Category...etc.

Regarding the multi-poi icon, I found this somewhere else on the web:

[poi]
group_poi_icons=0

This doesn't work either, the triple balloon is still there.

Actually, they can. I just changed McDonalds to the generic restaurant icon, and then back again.
Are you sure you are tapping "Edit" when you get to the specific choice after all the category choices?

The "Wrench/Screwdriver" cross just to the right of the checkbox for choosing the item. Then, on the next screen you should see the distance choices, etc and the current icon in the upper left corner. Tap that icon, and you should be taken to a screen that shows all of the currently installed BMP files of which you can choose whatever you like.
If, for some reason you don't see any of the above, then something may be 'odd' with your installation.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I don't have that icon.
I just read somewhere else that you need to have a GJ skin to see this icon.
I am using Primo 2.0 Go Cruise 9.6.2.209584, which does have Gurjon Branding, and there are 'GJ Settings' in the Settings, but I don't see any way to turn on this feature.
Any suggestions?

The GJ 'branding' skin was only preliminary, and should be replaced (put your original branding.zip back) with the latest zip-based release...see my signature for skins.
Personally, I am using diMka, so I really can't say if the POI options will be any different with a different skin or not.
I did not have to 'turn on' any features..the POI choices were just there.
Also, can't really say if the "Go Cruise" release is any different either...I never used it, but waited for the 'real' unbranded release instead.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Great! Glad to hear it.
That's one of the reasons why, when something new is released, and you want to use a 3rd party add-on, you kinda have to keep an eye open for any updates. Often the first is a working 'test' or beta, and may be missing a few things that are enhanced or added or fixed later.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Thanks for your advices and I learn today sth new how to change poi-icons , but here is the triple icon :
As I understad if i select more than one sub-categories or if in one point of map there are a lot of pois like a bar, a restaraunt, a gas station in the same adrress then Primo gives the triple-icon.

Sorry if I missed it, but could it be some simple thing as having duplicate entries in content\POI or something like that?
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

I think it's the same as it has been in previous Primo versions.
If you chose to display, for example a POI for Joe's Gas Station, and also a POI for All Day Minimarket, and it just so happens that one of Joe's Gas Stations is also an All Day Minimarket, instead of getting a custom POI for either at that location, you got a generic POI icon. Stop displaying Joe's Gas Station, and instantly the custom icon for All Day Minimarket now shows at that same location.
That 'generic' may now be the 3 blue balloons...indicating that one location is multiple things that you chose to display.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I found on iGO8, the triple blue balloons appeared when POI icons overlapped, Zooming in would separate them.

I generally turn them off, so i don't know if the behaviour is the same in Primo.
Currently sleeping...
