My Primo 1.2 is very slow !!!

Postby nabilone » Sun Apr 24, 2011 10:28 pm

I run Primo 1.2 on a chinese HU (WD6050) with a Nowada GPS board (WinCE6, 500Mhz, 128 Mb).
Unfortunately, it's very, very slow (Much more than Primo 1.1).
If someone has an idea...

Can you be more specific about running slow? Navigating and voices? Going from page to page? Are you trying to run something else while using the program on your device? What does this mean (Much more than Primo 1.2)? Did you have another nav on it and how did it run?
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Everything is slow!
Navigating, page to page. Even map doesn't refresh rapidly, the map is blurry for a while before details appear ( roads, arrow,...). I don't run anything else.
I ran Primo 1.1 for a while without difficulties

When you say "128 MB", do you mean actual program memory, or storage memory?
Between 1.1 and 1.2, I actually have found 1.2 to be faster on the same hardware.
So barring some setup error (can you post your sys.txt?) or memory issue, I don't know what your problem may be. Unless it's some winCE6 thing.

--When you went to 1.2, did you start fresh with a nice clean install (only adding Primo 1.2 stuff) or did you try to carry over some stuff from your working 1.1 installation--such as settings, voices, skins, other files, etc?

You see, this is what I don't really understand and that's why I say if it ain't broke don't fix it. You had a good working nav program on your device but you felt the need to upgrade it. Seriously, did you think that 1.2 would do something like drive the car for you so you could sleep? If it ain't broke don't fix it doesn't mean that you can't add anything new but does mean that you shouldn't change any of the code that makes it work. In my opinion, FWIW, there is nothing new in any upgrade[s] yet that warrants making a change from a satisfactorily working program. Let me just say this, MANY people have gone back to the November 1.1 from 1.2 because they have found bugs in 1.2. I know that I did!
