Problem with iGO primo map

Thu Jan 31, 2013 8:23 pm

hello all,
I'm from France and a total newbie in navigation.
Excuse me for my poor english. :p

I have a chinese autoradio running under wince (Erisin ES1146B for BMW e46) and iGO8 on a micro SD card.
Works well.

I tried to install iGO primo 2.4 on an other SD card. More precisely 2.4-9.6.13
It works too but the map zone on screen is black.
All iGO features and menus work, no problem with the satellites localization but I only have the blue arrow, no street, no name... nothing.
However, in the "content/map" folder I have a France_R3_NQ_2012.Q3.fbl file installed and also, others map files with .fda, .fpa, and .fsp extensions.

here is my sys.txt (maybe it can help) :
[debug]
skip_eula=1
experimental_features=1

[interface]
show_exit=1
extra_settings=1

[other]
demo_enabled=0

[route]
hnr_ignored_missing_country_ids=*

[vr]
disabled=0

So, where is the problem? :confused:

All help will be appreciated.

Francois

If you go to Help>About>More>Content, does it show your map files as being OK and valid?
Is it possible in the copy procedure that the map file(s) got corrupted somehow?
Have you tried a different local map (even an older one) to see if it works?

Hi,
You were right.
I tried an old iGO8 map and it works (I didn't know they were compatible)...
I don't know why the recent iGO primo map doesn't work (downloaded with a torrent link found here and reported as working).

Thank you for your advice, :thumbup:

It's possible (not guaranteed) that when you copy the newer maps again in your maps folder, they suddenly work.
When the uploaded maps are good - and it seems since AFAIK no other complaints about the maps - it could be a download fault, or a SDcard fault, or a copy error, or ...
Also - just saying - a license matter could be the cause.

Well, I tried to reinstall the first map and it seemed to worked :
The map is visible in the windows.
[Please Register or Login to download file]

But got troubles.
When I click on the map window, I get a message :
ui_igo9\common\junctionview_mixed.ini not found
You can also see that there is no exit or tools icon at the left bottom of the screen (maybe due to the diMkaWA skin I've installed)

I still suspect that something has gone wrong in the copy process, or that there may be something inherently wrong with your SD Card.
The diMka skin would not cause display anomalies such as missing icons, and certainly not the error you describe.
If the SD Card is 'bad' in any way, random errors may continue and perhaps impossible to track down as they may be inconsistent.

However, I deleted all the diMka files in the skin folder and everything go back normal.
I got a fully functional map and the exit and tools icons went back...

Pity, I love the nice diMka icons.

Are you SURE you were using the correct edition of the diMka skin? Primo 2.4 is very particular about this and skins made for previous Primo versions will not work correctly.

[color="#FF0000"]EDIT[/color]: A thought occurred to me because of this:

Did you happen to have unzipped/extracted the skin file?
Like other files in iGo/Primo, this should not be done...just copy the *.zip skin file to the ..content/skin folder as it is..fully zipped.

I used diMkaWA_P156 files.
Dated sept.2012

That is not correct for Primo 2.4--9.6.13.xxx.
The correct diMka skin for that Primo version is diMkaWA_P170 or diMkaWA_P171. Dated long after last September. More like a few weeks ago.

I told you that I'm a total newbie... :D

Thanks, :thumbup:

:D
Not a problem. Everybody has to start somewhere. Besides, the important thing is to get things working as good as possible, and you are doing better than many.

OK, diMkaWA_P170 is installed and runs nicely. The superb icons are back. :thumbup:

And I added dem, buildings, TTS pro files, speedcams.... waow, everything work. :D

Excellent. Good job.
And you did everything exactly correctly:
Check and make sure the basics are functioning as it should, work out any problems there, THEN start adding the more advanced content.
