Resolution problem

Thu Oct 17, 2013 12:57 pm

hi ,
I have Kenwood system with kobra navigation box and igo8 .
igo8 working with wp_navi files (old software) .
I was replacing the data.zip file and the branding.zip file but I cant see the buttons in the screen when I open the software. I checked the files in the old software and I saw that they are the same resolution like the new files that I replaced.

this is my sys text :

;[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/igo"

[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
;hide_mouse=0
show_exit=1
drive_carefully=0
;width=480
;height=640
skin="ui_igo8"
;resolution_dir="400_240"
;vga=1

[map]
2dheadup=1
3dcarsizemin=5000
3dcarsizemax=5000

[keyboard]
smart_housenumbers=0
panel_alpha="Hebrew"
panel_numeric="Numbers"

;[device]
SDCard_dsk_num=3

[loading]
usermode=1

[rawdisplay]
screen_x=640
screen_y=480
highres=1

[gps]
port=1
baud=9600

;[debug]
skip_eula=1
double_pixel_mode=1

[warning]
speedcam_warning=1
speedcam_soundtype=1
speedlimit_warning=0

thx...

I am not sure if I understand you correctly. Replacing which data.zip by which? Or replacing the old iGO totally by a new iGO?

When you replaced the complete old iGO by a new one (including data.zip) and then you get the mentioned issue, then put back the old data.zip and see if that solves the missing buttons.

I download a new igo8 from another site and I took only 2 files (data.zip and branding.zip).
I tried to replace the all program but it didn't work then I replaced only this 2 files and its work with incorrect resolution , if I will take only the old data.zip it will work good but it will be the old software and I want to upgrade.

thx...

in my first post here I wrote the old sys.txt (working old ig08).
with a new sys.txt the software didn't work , that's why I only replace 2 files instead of replacing the all software

usually if you want to upgrade present software, you need to delete old license and .exe and copy/paste license and .exe from the new one. you also may need to delete the save folder. however please know that we cannot help you with programs from other sites since we do not support inferior products!

Looking in the sys.txt file from your original program, I see that your resolution is 640X480:
screen_x=640
screen_y=480

The "primo for Israel" you've downloaded have a data.zip file that supports only 320X240, 480X272 and 800X480.
In the sys.txt file of this version you will find (works on my device):
screen_x=480
screen_y=272

Does the other data.zip file supports other resolutions? (take a look in the "ui_igo9" inner folder). If it does, replace the original data.zip with this one, and replace the resolution entries in the sys.txt file as well.
Maybe it will work this way.

As filesupload100 has mentioned, the resolution of your device seems to be 640x480

[rawdisplay]
screen_x=640
screen_y=480
[color="#FF0000"]highres=1[/color]

The line [color="#FF0000"]highres=1[/color] is showing that it might be a forced stretched resolution from 320x240 up to 640x480.
In this case you should have also this line in your sys.txt

[color="#0000CD"][interface]
resolution_dir="320_240"
vga=1[/color]

I replaced all the files in my software , but I still have resolution problem ... maybe I'm doing something wrong

Take another look at what D.I.I wrote about the BLUE lines needed to be added in the sys.txt file:

[color="#0000CD"][interface]
resolution_dir="320_240"
vga=1[/color]

1- In your new file, the "resolution..." is not active, remove the ";" from it.
2- Change it from "400_240" to "320_240".
Hope this will solve your problem.

i have the same resolution problem
what im doing wrong ?

Tue Oct 22, 2013 1:37 pm

What YOU are doing wrong I can't tell from here without my crystal ball. But let me explain the sys txt lines as far as I can.

resolution_dir="320_240" : tells the program what resolution file (in data.zip) to use - if not present ==> error
vga=1 : this must be obvious
screen_x=640 : this must be obvious too, the screen width is 640 pixels
screen_y=480 : and the screen height is 480 pixels
highres=1 : this line doubles the resolution

I am not 100% sure but I think the last line doubles the height as well as the width. Try with and without it.

Possible alternatives to stretch the resolution to the physical screen are:
stretch=1
stretch_x=1
stretch_y=1

I don't think these lines need much explaining, however if the result (esp. from the last 2)looks nice???
These lines are mostly used when the resolution is not that far off (which is more common on phones).
