Rosen P11 Unit - iGO8 - not finding .exe file

Rosen P11 Unit - iGO8 - not finding .exe file

Postby davidoffbeat » Thu Jan 28, 2016 12:23 pm

So I just bought a used car that had this Rosen P11 Unit, the GPS didn't work...the previous owner claimed they never attempted to use it because they didn't know how it works...Well I realized the reason why they said this...because it doesn't actually work.

The SD card it came with was not reading the .exe, so I bought a new SD card and tried to install iGO8, i renamed the .exe file to what my unit was looking for but it's still not finding it.

According to another Rosen post on the site it says the file should be...

\MMC_Storage\NNG\nngnavi.exe

\MMC_Storage is what the device calls the SD card, this might be relevant later, but for now ignore it.

So with my SD card i've tried naming the file E:\NNG\nngnavi.exe and it doesn't get picked up by my unit. Should it be E:\MMC_Storage\NNG\nngnavi? Are rosen units different in their paths? Anywhere I can go to find out where/what I should rename it?

The thread I'm reading is http://www.navitotal.com/general-discussions-about-igo-core-f87/newb-here-help-would-greatly-appreciated-rosen-nav-t14958.html

I also have a Rosen head unit (DS-GM1010-P11) - for mine (which is GM specific), it used "\NNG\nngnavi.exe" for the navigation binary (regardless of whether you use iGo8 or Primo).

Do you have a red-ish sky screen when you go to the navigation screen? Are any errors displayed?

YOu can try pressing the center of the red-ish sky screen if you have it - that will manually try to start the navigation app.

Let me know exactly what model of Rosen you have, if possible. Or a picture at least...

Wow, thanks for the response. I was about to give up on it. I'm actually getting two errors. The first is "Fail to Save Touch!" after I do the screen calibration (which happens every time I try to go to navigation).

I have a 2011 Prius, so the model # is DS-TY1270-P11 or maybe CS-TY1270-P11?

It almost sounds like something is wrong with your SD card. Are you sure that the write-protect tab isn't set? Can you show me a snapshot of what is on the SD card?

We'll get it figured out.

The card that came with it stopped working/stopped being read by my pc/sd card reader - so I went out and bought an 8gb SD card. Which...maybe is not compatible? I thought I read somewhere that it could handle up to 8gb cards...but I could be wrong.

I don't have the card with me this second (it's at work) but I can tell you the .exe file was in E:\NNG\nngnavi.exe

Sounds like the correct .exe name. My Rosen head-unit can use cards at least as big as 16gb - haven't tried any larger than that. Being that it can't read or write to the card, it could be that the card is formatted "incorrectly" (should be FAT32) or that your particular unit can't use cards that big. I really can't say for sure.

I have a feeling that 8gn may be too big. You may need to step down to a 4GB card. But I'm honestly not 100% sure.

Please check the properties of the card in Windows first to see how it's formatted. If it's not FAT32, you may need to copy all of the files to your PC, format it as FAT32 and then copy them back.

If it's already FAT32, I'd probably try a 4GB card next...

It's also possible that there is something wrong with the SD card reader in the unit. Maybe see if you can read the card in the media SD slot (if your unit has one - my unit has a GPS slot and a media SD slot).

Sorry I didn't have an easier solution for you!

Also - what "Type" of SD card is it? Is it SD, SDHC or SDXC? I'm guessing that it's SDHC, but just want to confirm.

It was formatted - fat32 - that was one of the things I checked.

I just bought a SDHC 4gb on amazon, we'll see if that works.

Do you have any other files/folders on the root of your SD card?

I also have a Rosen unit and I am having issues with it that I will ask about in a new thread.
But, have you tried going to Naviextras dot com and getting the toolbox and synctool to be able to backup and restore the navigation system on your unit? With those programs you should be able to see what is on your unit.

I initially tried backing up the original SD card using the toolbox...but it gave me an error message every time. Apparently there was a file in the /save/TRACKS folder that was something like "¶track117" and windows did not like that file name. I couldn't backup, I couldn't even navigate to it manually and deleted it.

Could you tell me where in the folder/file structure that the save folder was?

The "save" folder is right in the main Primo directory.

Well sure enough... I bought a 4gb card and it worked fine. I guess it just can't handle 8gb or greater.

Thanks for the help.

Cool! Glad to hear that you got it working. Luckily, 4GB is generally big enough to load all US maps, etc, so the 4GB limitation shouldn't be a big problem.
