SCBD Europe May 2013 - mobile VS fixed

Postby filesupload100 » Thu May 30, 2013 1:23 pm

I'm about to visit Italy soon, so I'm on the homework stage.
I'm doing some simulation with the latest maps, and I was very happy to find nabi's post for the latest SCBD Europe May 2013.

By searching for the coordinates of Italy, I came across duplications that appear in both files.
Since I was curious about how the cameras looks like in Italy, I copied some coordinates to Google Earth.
It seams that the data in the files is not accurate by 100%. A coordinate of a mobile camera is seen in Google Earth as a fixed camera.
Here is a sample list of duplicate coordinates, that all of them are fixed, but appears in the mobile file as well:
10.37364,45.07725
11.49697,45.47136
10.79542,45.21278
10.39697,45.50464
10.82258,45.61850
10.37747,43.57050
14.13339,41.09172
13.27442,43.05111
9.30242,45.47808
10.86528,45.43236
12.24361,45.67000
12.14256,46.06697

I'm sure that there is more duplicates in this files.

Anyway, I'm happy to have this files for my travel, I prefer to be alerted than to be surprised.

The SCDB files should be very complete and accurate. I have not (yet) detected any errors.

It are the users (paying members) theirselves that maintain the database, but nor I nor anyone can guarantee the correctness or non double entries.
Neither can anyone guarantee that Google Earth is accurate and correct everywhere. Situations change every day and a regular moblicam can be replaced by a fixed one or vice versa.
Anyways, IMHO, it doesnot matter when being warned for a wrong type of camera or a non existing (or not anymore existing) camera, as long as you are warned for cameras.

Drive safely!

Just a note: when you see signs saying "controllo velocità con sistema Tutor" keep in mind that there's a camera at the beginning and a camera after some kms and they calculate the average speed using the registration plate (i.e. it's not enough to speed down at the sign, you'll have to keep below the speed limit for the whole stretch).
With this kind of speed camera, primo will alert every few seconds and show you the average speed, you can tap on the alert to stop it (after a while it is annoying), at least with the dimka skin.
