Search POI problem on iGO 8

Postby laurieoz » Fri Oct 19, 2012 9:29 am

This answer may be somewhere but I can not find an answer and I am new to forums
1. I have several personal POI files and icons (csv file type for the POI), that I used on my Navman S45
2. I want to use this POI file on my new Chinese iGO8 GPS
3. How do I do this?
4. How do I add my Icon for this file for the new Chinese GPS?

iGO uses .kml format poi's, you can use poiedit to convert yours.

Put your poi's in ..\content\userdata\poi
And the icon in ..\content\userdata\usericon (I think)
Now they will show up in the poi list...

If it's a 3rd party poi make sure it's in .kml format and put it in content\userdata\poi

iGO by default won't look on other drives for content.

1. I have converted my personal POI file (camps7) to KML file and added it to my new Chinese GPS
igo8/content/userdata/poi (thanks for your help)
2. When I go to “ find menu”; find POI ; around address; my POI file will come up –I can see 75 pages of 4 POI to the page (in actual fact there should be 3000 POI camp sites) – where are the others?
3. When I do a search I get the message “no items”
4. Can someone tell me how to solve the problem of "no items"
Thank you

Try...

Find
Find places
Custom search
- Around here/last known position - this will only search in a small area around you
- In a town - enter the location you want to search round, tap results

It is not possible to search the whole file at the same time, only a small part of it!

1. I enter the town
2. "all in all category" comes up plus all the categories that are in iGO poi, including my category file that I loaded
3. If I do a search it will find a poi that in the iGO poi categories, but not that point in the POI category file I loaded (even if I know it is there).
4. If I select my POI file category and do a search, it shows 300 poi in the area where you enter poi name.
But when I enter any letter the number goes to zero and when I press "done " at get message "No items

Any ideas?

When it shows 300 poi tap the results button before entering any letters, can you see the names of your poi's?

Yes - I can see 75 pages of results (4 to the page) of all sorts of categories from the standard POI files but no POI from my POI file that I loaded

Do this exactly...

Find
Find places
Custom search
Around here/last known position

You will now see all the poi categories installed, scroll down and look for your category.

Tap on it, what do you see?

My GPS say
1. Find
2. Find POI
3. Around address; around Curser; around GPS, around Destination; along route

All the poi categories installed are shown if I tap of any in point 3
I Scroll down to my POI file
I tap on it and 75 pages of 4 POI per page are listed as they should be but if I tap search the same happens as I have said above in my last reply

Are you using iGO 8 or Primo?

I've been giving you the instructions for Primo!
